Social Profile:

Rooted in History, Inspired by Community The name “Regalburg” is our playful nod to Bergregal—German for “mining rights”—and our town’s nickname, The Burg. While Bergregal isn’t directly tied to Walsenburg, coal shaped our story. From the Walsen mine (1876) to the Colorado Coalfield Wars and the Ludlow Massacre (1914), Walsenburg became known as “The City Built on Coal.” Our home, the Walsenburg Mercantile (est. 1904), supplied mining camps with food and goods. Revived in 2022 with 70+ local vendors, we continue that tradition—good food, craft, and community under one historic roof. “A city built on coal. A deli built on community.”

I stumbled into Regal Burger completely by accident while showing property in Walsenburg — and honestly, that’s what made it so surprising.

I’ve had a lot of burgers over the years, including some truly great ones, so I’m not easily impressed. But when you’re hungry, on the road, and not expecting much… finding a spot that actually delivers is rare.

The bacon avocado burger hit the spot — solid, satisfying, and well done. The fries were hot and crisp, and the whole experience felt easy and welcoming. Before heading back to Westcliffe, I grabbed an iced latte for the drive home — and it was really good. Cold, smooth, and exactly what I needed.

Nothing overhyped, nothing pretentious — just good food, good coffee, and a cool, thoughtfully restored space inside the Walsenburg Mercantile. It truly felt like a one-stop shop when you’re on the move.

If you’re in Walsenburg and want a reliable place to eat, grab a coffee, and keep going, Regal Burger is absolutely worth the stop.

This place takes five stars easily. In addition to good coffee and traditional American breakfast favorites, you can get a great veggie and quinoa option (pictured here with a fried egg added to it). Their homemade hummus is good, and I appreciate that they chopped up the veg so I didn’t have to do any sawing. I mixed it altogether—fresh, healthy breakfast with lots of protein. Look around while you wait and get a feel for the small town. Walsenberg is a gem.

Great atmosphere and food. Service was also great but food took a few mins. Everything was hot and fresh cooked so that is likely why and honestly better that way imo. Added menu pics
We got a build your own burger and BLT.

We stopped here to support a small-town spot, but unfortunately it was disappointing. There were more employees than customers, yet service was slow and inattentive. The chicken sandwich was just a frozen patty and came with hardly any fries. They were out of chai. I even tried to buy a local artist’s hat but was ignored, even after asking for help. Cute place, but no social awareness. We’ll skip it next time.

Came here for breakfast twice during a camping trip and it was 10/10 both times! Got the sausage & ham breakfast burritos. So flavorful, good portion size, and the salsa that comes with is the best I’ve had in awhile! We also tried their iced lattes, very good just know they use STRONG espresso, so keep that in mind. Will definitely be back!

Cute little place and the food was amazing.

The tacos (added green peppers and sausage) were absolutely delicious. The avocado toast was amazing and the coffee was superb!

Food was pretty good and it was a nice little place to stop at on the way back to Denver. Very friendly staff and the breakfast sandwich was great. Toast could have used a little butter but still good.

Second time stopping here for breakfast, because hands down they make the best breakfast tacos (with sausage) I’ve ever had. The Chai tea is also fantastic. It has a different flavor than Chai at most coffee places, like the milk after a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Unique and delicious! It’s located inside the mercantile, so browsing the various items for sale while waiting on the food is fun. Staff is very friendly and accommodating of requests.

Traveling from Montana to Texas, this was a great place to stop and get some good food! I had a mocha latte and the power bowl with sausage. The restrooms and store were very clean, so it made for a good place to freshen up. You can also buy some local items as well. I bought some jams, candles, and soaps. 😀

The food was delicious. Ordered a shrimp po’ boy sandwich which the bread was soft. The fries were seasoned and thick. Service was good and friendly. Bonus was the little shops to shop while we waited.
