The food is truly outstanding. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with rich, authentic flavors. The quality of ingredients is obvious, and the sauces and cooking techniques are simply excellent—classic French cuisine done right. Each plate feels hearty yet refined, and you can tell there’s real care behind every detail.
The ambiance makes the experience even better. Cozy, inviting, and full of character, it’s perfect for a leisurely meal where you want to enjoy good conversation and great food without feeling rushed. Service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming feel of the restaurant.
If you’re in Bonnieux and looking for an amazing dining experience with fantastic food, a great atmosphere, and a family-friendly environment, Bistrot Francis is a must-visit. Highly recommended—we would absolutely come back again! ️
Bistrot Francis has the warm, welcoming feel of a family-run spot, but the food is far more refined than you might expect. The menu was short – just two mains, two desserts, and a few specials – but every dish showcased superb local produce and confident, understated cooking. I had a tomato salad followed by a bavette steak with green beans, both executed flawlessly.
We booked by phone and were given a lovely table outside. Would absolutely return – highly recommended.
they have a changing menu of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts with also additional tapas options.
we tried coming here yesterday as walk-in customers but couldnt find a table so I strongly suggest booking a table in advance.
Unfortunately, today was the first day that we had the time to do so. So with the reservation booked for lunch, we walked up to Chez Francis and took our seats in the back of the restaurant. We were treated very well by the front of house staff. After ordering a glass of wine and some sparkling water, we were provided with menus that gave us an idea of what we had to choose from on the à la carte menu, the tapas menu or the plate du jour formule.
We put our faith and intuition in to gear and ordered. We had cold soup and a tomato salad to start. Both were wonderful and packed with flavor. From there, we moved on to Black cod with potatoes and a risotto with poached egg. Both of our main meals were once again so flavourful and extravagant, yet simple and unpretentious.
The rosé, we drank to acompany this meal was once again, a stand out and a wine that will remain on our minds for time to come. We feel very grateful to have this restaurant in our village.
We are glad to know that they intend to remain open throughout the winter. We cannot wait to make this our regular haunt going forward this year.
Our congratulations to the new owners and proprietors. Both front of house and back of house is extremely professional and on point. We wish them all the success in the world.
Even the bread served with the meal was delicious.
Service was also excellent which was attentive but not intrusive.
Well done, the whole team of this bistro.
