PALLADIO is truly a quiet, well-kept secret. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is calm, elegant, and refined—perfect for an intimate dinner or a peaceful night out. The setting feels exclusive without being pretentious, creating a relaxing and upscale dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every dish reflects quality and care, making it clear this kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The ambiance alone sets PALLADIO apart, but the exceptional cuisine is what keeps you thinking about your next visit. If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers elegance, tranquility, and outstanding food away from the noise and crowds, PALLADIO is the place. A true hidden gem that deserves to be experienced.

As usual, the food from Palladio was exceptional and enjoyed by all of us. Service could not have been better. Eating in the Library let’s us all look out the windows and see the Fall foliage, the beautiful mountains and the color changing vines!! What a great day!

My husband and I visited for our anniversary as we were married at UVA. Excellent food! I would consider this a world class restaurant. The lamb was soft and incredibly flavorful. The duck I had was the best I’ve ever had. Tasty, seasoned, crispy skin, and perfectly cooked. The winery itself boasts excellent wine, a scenic vineyard, and a barrel room that sets an authentic atmosphere. My only wish is that they had better views of the vineyard as a whole, but the restaurant itself was phenomenal and best meal I’ve eaten all year.

Located at Barboursville winery this is overall a plesant dining experience.
We were poured a glass of prosecco when seated and a served an amuse bouche after ordering which is a nice touch.
Menu is Italian Style with Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Contorni and Dolce
Primi is primarily pasta dishes and could serve as a main course.
Each course has a recommended wine pairing
There is also a full wine menu
Dishes were plated beautifully.
Pasta is made in house.
Our mains were ok, not spectaular which for the hype and cost, I was hoping for.
Service is very attentive though it felt impersonal.

Not sure about all of the negative lunch reviews, but I can tell you the dinner experience at Palladio is nothing short of perfection. We were married at the Barboursville Ruins 5 years ago and had our wedding dinner there, so we make it a point to visit every year on our anniversary as a special and romantic occasion. Each year the experience has hit 10’s all across the board as a top dining experience. The service is always refined and impeccable, the Octagon wine never disappoints, and the meals are continuously amazing. Please do try the Wild Boar appetizer if it’s on the menu, presented with lentils, caramelized onions, and blueberries… I would say this dish is on my list of the top 5 appetizers I’ve had anywhere in my 50 years of dining at fine restaurants. My wife’s fresh Halibut main was an incredible dish as well…especially if you sub in the creamy mashed potatoes. I chose the Duck as my main course – it had a very unique and crispy presentation and I would give both this and the Halibut (after stealing part of my wife’s dish) 10 out of 10’s as well. Overall we would rate Palladio at Barboursville on the same level as Fleurie, Ten, and The Farmhouse at Veritas as one of the top restaurants within driving distance of Charlottesville.

In an area that has so many wonderful places to eat, Palladio came up short. The flavors were lacking: salad tasted burnt (odd comment, I know, but if that was intentional, it was overpowering), pastas highlighted the homemade pasta but lacked flavor and general flair that separates other restaurants around. The service was confusing, we were not greeted when we entered and the pace of the meal was overall extremely slow. My hope was the dessert would save the day but the lemon bundt was extremely dry, and without the sauce would have been difficult to swallow at all. The little things that make a night out special were absent, example the end of the meal we were brought out 4 small cookies which is a lovely touch but had they been warm, it would have been a better ending to the meal. For the price, not worth it. I don’t believe we will be back, which is a shame because the winery is lovely!

Visited from DC during a weekend at Shenandoah and we were greeted by warm attentive service. I was apprehensive given some of the reviews but didn’t encounter any of the negative issues others have highlighted. The restaurant was flexible with our need to move our reservation a bit earlier when we called the day of and we were promptly seated and greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco and a pre-appetizer. The restaurant is a small intimate dining room with a semi formal vibe (some men in dinner jackets). We did the mixed wine flight and enjoyed each course of our dinner. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Upscale and classy restaurant, yet it feels stuffy and not very welcoming. The staff is efficient yet not welcoming. They welcome you with a glass of complimentary bubbles, a good one. The portions are small. The prices are high even for lunch. The food is high quality, well made, yet just average outcome. The bread and olives plate is good.

Literally no idea how this place has only 4.1 stars. Let me start by saying I’m Italian and visiting this place helped cure my nostalgia from when I’d spend my weekend in the mountains, eating at family owned, cozy and chic little restaurants. The menu is creative and upscale Italian. I heard Italian being spoken in the kitchen which is always a good sign. And I don’t know why there are reviews that say it’s not welcoming, when you’re welcomed with a complimentary glass of Prosecco . If you’re near Monticello or in the area I highly recommend it. I will say… it IS pricey. We spent about $350 for two people.
