Social Profile:

Inspired by the classic roadside barbecue joints that dot the American South, Blue Ribbon offers the best of authentic Southern regional barbecue. All of our barbecue is cooked at low temperatures for long periods of time over oak and hickory hardwoods, producing moist, bold, flavorful meats. You’ll feel as though you’ve been brought back to a lost version of America. Our barbecue is the result of passion-driven cooks who have spent years around the fire pits perfecting the meats. The same passion applies to the long list of side dishes and desserts, giving a grandma’s kitchen flavor to the whole place. We share this experience with each guest and a simple nod of approval from a satisfied customer is what it’s all about.

Local counter-serve chain dishing up Southern BBQ fare in a casual space with a vintage vibe.

I get bbq from here probably once a month. Decent smoked brisket in the area since there just aren’t many near Boston. Good portion for the price and the people working there are always so friendly. Won’t go wrong on a hungry night craving for flavor and protein.

The smell is fabulous when you walk in. Delicious pulled pork and great choice of sides. They had pickled beets today.
Only downside to this Virginian was the sugar in the cornbread. But I know opinions vary on this, even in the South.

Blue Ribbon BBQ absolutely nailed it. Their catering service was incredibly easy and smooth from start to finish. Everything was well-organized, on time, and stress-free. And the food? So good. Delicious, fresh, and crowd-pleasing across the board.

This is coming from someone who doesn’t even love BBQ, and I was genuinely impressed. The flavors were spot-on without being overwhelming, and there was something everyone enjoyed. I’d confidently recommend Blue Ribbon BBQ for any event and would happily use them again.

Blue Ribbon BBQ has been a go-to for us over the years, and for good reason—it’s become an institution in the Boston area, and when it comes to barbecue, nothing else quite stacks up. If you’re looking for a takeout option, the 3-meat combo with two sides is an absolute winner, perfect for sharing with someone and an incredible value for the quality.

Starting with the sides: the coleslaw is exactly what you’d want—crunchy, not overly creamy, with just the right amount of seasoning. It’s refreshing and adds a nice balance to the richness of the meat. Then there are the mashed potatoes with gravy, which might actually exceed any expectations you have. Think rich, buttery, smooth potatoes paired with a velvety gravy that’s just out of this world.

As for the meat, the brisket is a standout. It’s tender with beautifully crisp smoke lines and just the right amount of fat, practically begging to be dunked in the golden barbecue sauce. Then there’s the pulled pork, Melissa’s absolute favorite. Smoky, juicy, and perfect with any sauce you choose, but especially good with the hot sauce for that extra kick.

The cornbread is simple and serviceable—crumbly and light, exactly what you’d expect as a sidekick to all the main players.

Don’t sleep in the specials or the wraps. The Buffalo chicken wrap and the burrito really hit the spot if you’re looking for something you can eat on the go!

All in all, Blue Ribbon BBQ has something truly special. It’s a place that makes you want to come back time and again, knowing every bite will live up to the memory of the last.

As a professional chef and pitmaster I can tell you that I’m sadly disappointed in their smoked meats. The sides were all delicious but every single one of our meats were dry and overcooked. The jerk chicken? Good lord baby Jesus do not call it that. It had zero jerk flavor and it was sooooo dry my cat wouldn’t even eat it. The hot link was decent but had next to no flavor besides a lil heat. The brisket was soooo dry. Not lean. Dry! The pork ribs were burnt beyond being able to be ate. The sides were really good but I didn’t pay $34.00 a plate to have everything burnt!

Big portion of food, reasonable price and fast service, but the taste was a bit questionable compared to its rating.

Me and my company ordered one rib platter with coleslaw and mashed potato, and one chicken bbq platter with corn and baked beans.

Starting with the rib platter, I could tell it was smoke roasted by just having one bite. However, some of ribs were overcooked that it was more chewy than jerky. BBQ chicken was too salty and it was just disappointing.

If I were to recommend a menu or two, it’d be the ribs and cornbread, but nothing else. One last thing, they only have about 10-15 seats(not tables but seats), so it may be hard to find seats.

Wil not be going back here. I should have known there would be a problem as soon as I read that there was gravy On top of their dirty rice. The pork ribs were the best item I had on my meat trio. They were seasoned nicely and tinder. The brisket was tough and the fat had not rendered down properly. There was not much of a smoke ring and I was missing pepper on the bark. Basically there was no bark. The pool chicken had a very interesting flavor that I was not used to on barbecue. It would be better suited for a taco. I had the collard greens. I’m a southern guy. So I like a little vinegar, counterbalance with a little sugar. They gave me basically greens in water.

Dont think you’ll find better barbecue north of NY City. Service is respectful. Not overly friendly but also not rude, which nowadays it’s a plus.

Absolutely worth the trip within an one hr drive from anywhere.

Portion can feed 2-3 people (if you’re small eater like myself) definitely single portion for the big boys.

Will keep coming back.

Oh, did I mention their corn bread it outrageous?

The meats are great, side not so much (some canned or overcooked veggies), cornbread just okay. The eat-in area is small. I’d go back for the ribs or pulled pork, but skip their sides.
