Sunset Terrace is open to the public, despite being in a resort. The food is decent; drinks were ok. We liked the live music, but not really watching resort guests frolicking in their pool.

Sunset views were fine, but you can’t see the western horizon so there are better spots for that. The palms do help a lot.

Service was…poor. I get it, even servers have bad days, so maybe it’s not always like that.

So glad we found this place. Everything up the coast was holding 1.5-2h wait times. This was across the street from our condo and we wish we had found it sooner. Very helpful with gluten and dairy free needs and the food was generous and delicious.

Our server, Trent?, was so helpful and friendly. Don’t pass this place up. The terrace is beautiful and looks out over the water perfectly to watch sunset.

Hands down the best fish and chips. They were steaks of fish, lightly beer battered and stuffed with fish steak.
We live in SoCal with English taverns that swear they’ve got the best fish and chips. They’re wrong, Sunset Terrace has the best.

The guitar solo was outstanding, soothing and easy to listen while conversation with those around us.

Friendly pool for the kids to play in while we watched the sunset of sunsets.

So glad we spent our last night relaxing after a week jammed full of mantas, beaches, star gazing and volcanoes.

Don’t let your to do list ruin your sanity of enjoying the moment with your family.

Put the camera down and enjoy your family. The next blink might be the last.

What a lovely spot for an intimate show and incredible sunsets! Our server was Emily and she was so wonderful. Emily recommended the pulled pork sandwich, and she didn’t steer me wrong! The sandwich was piled high with delicious Hawaiian-style pulled pork (not as smoky as southern BBQ, and a lot sweeter), which melted in my mouth each bite since it was so tender. This was a great sandwich. Emily also recommended the Mai Tais, which were the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful views of the ocean, sunset, and the incredibly talented Colin John who performed on the Terrace.

Come here during a performance and you are certain to have a memorable evening.

Enjoyed the coconut shrimp with a sweet chili sauce and frues. The shrimp was excellent. The sauce had a little kick but not too much. I don’t like spicy food. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. There was a singer pkaying nice music. The service was good. I’ll be back!

We went here a few times during our stay. We loved the coconut shrimp and fish and chips. The atmosphere was nice and felt laid back and no need to hurry. Had beautiful views and was fun to use the pool too while we waited for food.

Top points:
– Very fast service
– yummy food, with a good amount of options for main course + dessert
– Amazing live music until 8 p.m.
– Right beside the resort pool, so you can swim and enjoy the music at the same time!

As a travel advisor, I advise you not to go here. The website shows a full menu. When you arrive, because you can’t get anyone by phone, you’ll realize that the menu is only half of what you find online. We were charged over $100 to find out that the already sparse hummus plate was going to be missing part of what was advertised (the spicy green beans). Then we waited the entire time to find that they were out of the cheesecake we ordered (one of only two desserts offered). We asked for a refund. After the three minute walk back to our condo I found the fries and fish and chips to be absolutely unable to eat. The fries were already cold and burnt crunchy, leaving nothing but an old burnt food taste in my mouth. The fish was also cold and tasted as if it was cooked in oil that was far too old.

Final note, we skipped our anniversary reservation to stay onsite at Kona Coast Resort for the false advertisement of this restaurant. Please don’t make the same mistake we did.

My wife, daughter and mother-in-law stayed at the resort. Thought we would check out the local restaurant and bar. We were not impressed. Do not get the Hummus plate. It was the worst ever soggy zucchini pickled green beans. The hummus was watery just beware. Chicken wings okay, Lot of breading not very much meat. The french fries were actually pretty good, The lava flow drink was decent. Kids chicken had more meat. The service was okay and they don’t have enough menus to give to each table so we had to wait for a menu and 30 minutes for chicken wings. I feel like who ever is in charge of this resort is letting it go and isn’t keeping things consistent from the resort to the restaurant for example. I hope that helps you and best of luck with your experience.

We are staying at this resort, and my husband wanted a Mai Tai. They have a happy hour. The drink was some well rum and some kind of mixed fruit juice. It wasn’t great. My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich, and the cheese had touched the grill, making it taste like gas or chemicals. I had a BLT, which tasted ok, but was cold. It took a rather long time for 2 sandwiches to come out from the kitchen. Just kind of “meh” all the way around.
