Breakfast here is great. Went for afternoon tea yesterday and had a bad experience. Extremely expensive for disgusting food. Basically inedible. The driest scones I’ve ever had. Waited an hour between being served tea and having the food come out. Servers also all seem confused and relatively clueless. Potentially all new staff but not good hospitality or knowledge of the menu.

We had a lovely dining experience on our recent visit to St. Andrews at Braxton’s. The customer service was excellent. The menu has something for everyone and seafood lovers will be delighted to see some excellent options on the menu.

Braxton’s at the Algonquin Inn was a highlight of our stay. Breakfast was wonderful every morning—fresh, well-prepared, and enjoyable. Our server, Luliia, was wonderful: friendly, attentive, and always made us feel welcome. Her service truly elevated the experience. We would happily return.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely mouth-watering—hot, crispy, and full of flavor. I especially loved the Acid Bowl; it was a perfect blend of taste and presentation. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant entrance was impressive, and the music created a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the Algonquin Hotel for 4 night and went to the Braxton’s for breakfast and dinner. Absolutely love the food and during breakfast time Iuliia took care of us and answered the many questions my husband had. She was excellent, friendly and engaging and I am looking forward going there again.

Food was just okay for an Autograph hotel. Nothing special or tasty. Service was great. Atmosphere was dated an in need of a refresh.

First visit for me! Walked in and there was a huge party of 15+ people and a few people at the bar. I was dining alone so I grabbed a spot at the bar and Coryann was fantastic! She greeted me with a smile and was very personable! I quickly realized that at the moment, she was the lone ranger! I had the steak frites with the parmesan truffle fries which was super tasty and was cooked perfectly ! All in all, it was a really great meal and experience!

We stayed at the resort so we had many meals at the Braxton. The restaurant matches the luxury of the hotel. The service and the food were wonderful. We had a sit down dinner in the dinning room and had service on the balcony for lunch. The flexibility made it easy to order from the pub or dinning menu. They do everything they can to make your stay easy and comfortable.

My friends and I stopped in for a drink at Braxton’s as we do a few times a year. We prefer to sit in the cozy armchairs in the hall just outside the restaurant. Tonight we had Adrian as our server – it’s not the first time we’ve enjoyed his hospitality and won’t be the last! While the drinks were lovely, the pizza delicious, and the festive decor truly a delight, this review is specifically to shout out our favourite server. He is warm, friendly, highly attentive and has made each experience memorable and fun with his quick wit and sense of humour. You’re one in a million, Adrian! Thank you!

Feeling a great need to escape following a hard winter locked in the house, we escaped to the Algonquin Resort in picturesque St. Andrews, NB. Needing time to relax, we didn’t even leave the hotel and ate all of our meals at the hotel’s restaurant/bar.
As there were relatively few people in the hotel, it was easy to just drop in without reservations. We chose to eat in the bar as we needed a “baño de gente” as my Spanish spouse calls it. Literally a “bath of people”, we needed to feel the atmosphere with people around. Also, the bar had a nice fireplace. Gas but realistic feeling.
First, the staff are incredibly with the polish one would expect from a restaurant of this nature. Friendly and engaging wish just the right amount of attention without feeling over bearing.
Meals arrived with good timing and nice presentation. Quality was good. Not great like I would have expected for the place and price. However, we were not disappointed with the meals.
So while all was well with the meal, I feel the prices were too high relative to fine dining in other locations. Yes, I understand hotel restaurant have an added markup and many times I opt to pay rather than leave the hotel. However, it was just a little higher than I felt it merited. For example, my $40 seafood risotto was good. Not great as I expected for this price. The bottle of wine we ordered one night was about triple the cost from the liquor store.
The other negative for me was to see two tip lines on the bill. One just labeled tip and the other labelled something like kitchen tip. It is a well known fact that in North America restaurants are trying to up the percentages of tips as a way to supplement wages paid, not for rewarding good service, as a tip should be. If a restaurant wants to recognize cook staff, then have tips split. However, the best way to recognize all staff, especially chefs, is to pay them well. In a tourist country like Spain, hardly anyone tips. It is because they pay their staff a good wage and the service there is still spectacular. Anyway, this sat very badly with me and is not a change in custom that I will support.
So all in all a great experience but with the little distractions noted, I could not support a 5 star rating.
