Philadelphia is one of the places cork sniffing cheesesteak enthusiasts mention when debating on where to find the best. I tried their Pepper Cheesesteak that has rib-eye, Swiss-American cheese, bell peppers and onions. The bread was moist and not too thick. (They sell a package of 6 hoagie buns). The sandwich tasted good but I would have liked more flavor. If I go again I’ll try their Pizza Steak. The shop has a relaxed vibe. One guy was running the whole operation. They have a couple TVs. Unfortunately it conflicts with the classic rock played over the system. Street parking was ok but I’m sure it could be challenging during peak hours. Philadelphia’s is a great choice if you’re in the area. If you’re a cork sniffer you might like Grant’s, Philly Bilmo’s or The Block too. I had come here many years ago, and the cheesesteaks were not impressive at all. But that has completely changed! I believe there may be new owners (since then) and the food has greatly improved. They make a yummy pepper cheesesteak.

They get their hoagie buns from a local bakery that bakes them just for this location. And you can buy a bag of day old hoagie buns from them for about $2.50 for five or six foot-long buns. Great deal! Unfortunately they don’t sell fries with their sandwiches.

They also have a large selection of beers on tap that people were enjoying early this afternoon. There’s lots of seating inside and picnic tables with umbrellas outside. And the staff was very friendly and welcoming! I’m happy to have another good choice for cheesesteaks here in Portland!

Everything about this place is great! The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. Awesome music playlist, great beer selection, super soft bread, best place in town to get a cheesesteak!

I love this place for 2 reasons, food and service.
It’s been 15 plus years since eating there. I stopped in with my 2 sons whom are very picky eaters. They absolutely loved it.
I went on a Monday around lunchtime and the gentleman who made our food was top notch customer service.
I was very impressed by not only his kindness but his willingness to go above and beyond for his customers.
As a business owner, this is the type of person you want running the show when you can’t.

Great job.

I ordered the chicken parm without cheese.

Very underwhelmed on the portion sizes. I got about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce- almost seems like they ran out.

Less chicken than a chipotle takeout order and enough onions (took most of them off) to make a Queen Elizabeth II cry all night.

I’ll say the bread is almost as good as olive gardens breadsticks…. That keeps this above a 1. But with the scarce amount of chicken and marinara sauce- I felt like this sandwich was made during the peak of the Great Depression in 1932 when food was limited and was priced like we’re on the Las Vegas strip.

I have avoided returning to this place for what seems like over a decade because of an underwhelming experience. I decided that, hell, it’s still here for some reason… perhaps they’ve improved(?). This was NOT the case. I paid nearly $20 for a $10 sandwich, at best.

Imagine paying $17.75 for a classic cheesesteak sandwich à la carte… You’d think it would be the mother of all à la carte cheesesteak sandwiches. Long, loaded, and delicious… While I will say that the ingredients did go together well, the portions were disappointing, to say the least. I split a whole sandwich with my accomplice, photographed here. I don’t know how they’re still there, I will not be going back.

If you’re looking for a Philly, there are plenty of options out there that will, at the very least, be less disappointing. If you want the best, in my opinion, take the time to go to The Block in Pioneer Courthouse Square. That dude’s been slinging killer cheesesteaks for 20+ yrs.

We were pleasantly surprised. There aren’t that many reviews for this place so we were skeptical but we loved it. It was delicious. The price is quite high but you do get a whole sandwich. The other half you can save for later. But I do wish they had an option to pay for half the sandwich and a side with a drink instead. Other than that, it’s worth a try. Oh, you’ll also have to speak up, the owner is hard of hearing.

Disappointing for an $18 sandwich. The meat was really good, but the bread tastes like basic grocery store hoagie rolls. Too doughy. The interior atmosphere was a bit drab but the outdoor seating was nice.
