Whiskey River passed several of my key litmus tests: 1) good Guinness tap (check); attentive and pleasant staff (double check); and a layout with a good flow for foot traffic. The third one may seem a little odd to you, but never underestimate the power of a good flow in a bar. The food menu is pretty diversified, with a good spread of barbecue and traditional pub fare. I tried the John Wayne burger and it definitely did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

This place is an absolute blast. They have a huge bar, a nicely separated band area, and a fairly decent outdoor patio. Karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a pretty good lineup of bands every Friday and Saturday. Some of the best people watching in the north suburbs, and great place to hang with local characters and knuckleheads like myself. I’ve never had the food since I generally go later in the eve, but a fun place to land after a good bar hop. Stop by during the holidays and you might see the north shore’s favorite elf!

I was in town for work for a couple weeks and stopped in. Got some food and some drinks. What a great place to hang out. Watch sports , play pool, sing some karaoke My only regret is not finding whiskey River bar and grill at the beginning of my trip what a great time!!!!!

Stopped by on a whim, and was really impressed !!! The service was really great & the food was over the top !!! The cheese curds were the really crunchy kind, and they were cooked perfectly. The chili was really tasty, too. The main attraction was the Meatloaf… a huge slab of tasty homemade meatloaf with corn and mashed potatoes & brown gravy. The portion was enough for 3 meals easily. Some of the curds got dipped in the gravy, and it was insanely tasty. When we were there, the School of Rock band played. We just stopped by for lunch and did not expect to see live music. It was heartwarming to see people living out their rock and roll dreams !!! At 9pm, a Greatful Dead cover band was scheduled to play until 12:30 a.m., bummed we missed that, to be honest. So, to recap: this place is awesome. Do not skip it if you’re in the area !!!

We went here to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The cheese curds are very good but the rest of the food is mediocre. We had to find a server twice to place a food order and later to get checked out. It took a long time to get the food and the server was unfamiliar with what food items were available. It was a Friday night around 6pm so there were people there but I have seen busier bars. When I closed my tab at the bar I was charged $45 with tip and when I checked my card statement I was charged $78. A day later there was an additional $45 charge from Whiskey River that was later removed. I contacted the bar 4 times and kept getting told that someone would get back to me. The fourth time I called and spoke with Jack I was finally shown an invoice which did have the proper items on it. I am still confused why the discrepancy between the $45 and the $78 which could never be answered. Probably will not go here again. The food and service were not worth the hassle.

Love this place. It’s a blast . They have great staff and the new manager Jack is making improvements all around. The staff is amazing .. shout out to Katie she is just awesome and no matter how busy always spreads cheer . The food is excellent and there is a nice outdoor patio in the summer . They have Karaoke Tuesdays and Thursdays and it’s a blast . Great people and you feel like family . Great place to meet up with friends or make new ones .

My bartender Draya was amazing. Very attentive and fast to refill my drink. Ordered food and it was to order. Very pleasant to talk to and made me feel at home at this bar even though it was my first time here. Will come again!

This review is totally based on service as we were attending performances by School of Rock Glenbrook and Libertyville on a Sunday afternoon.
The other couple that we met arrived early and were able to get a table and ordered a few drinks and appetizers. The server ,who kept saying he was new,didn’t know anything about the Daily Specials and kept wanting to charge higher prices. When we arrived I asked for their daily beer special and once again he said he was new and would ask another server.
It did get crowded with 2 different groups of performers but there was definitely a short staffing situation as our server never came back to see if we wanted any food or more drinks! The show was over 3 hrs!
We had to go to the bar and ask for our bill to pay but we were never given an itemized bill so no idea if we were charged correctly especially the other couple that ordered food.
This could be a great place to see live music and there is a nice outdoor seating area when the weather gets warmer but they need to figure out the staffing issues first.

I’ve never eaten here before, but I’ve been here at least 10 times in the past year and found the service to be decent and the decorations are nice and I really enjoy the Hot Pepper jam. However, I would like to see some improvement with maintenance like more liquid hand soap in the bathrooms including the single bathroom (I was told that soap dispenser is broken) and clean the men’s bathroom that was flooded last night. One of the toilets in the single bathroom was out of order last night as well. I know cleaning bathrooms and fixing things in there aren’t the most desirable jobs, but if someone can fix or replace the broken soap dispenser, fix the out of order toilet and clean the flooded bathroom, that would be great! Other than that, it’s a pretty good time there for the music!

Love the atmosphere/decor, always excited to bring my friends. Went a few weeks ago and the bouncer accused me of having a fake ID. I’m 24 and have worked as a bar manager for years, offered my FOID card and explained the reasons my ID looks real. He was extremely rude and dismissive, then offered to “let me slide” for a cash bribe. I was disgusted and now actively advocate against the place. Multiple others I’ve talked to have complained about the bouncers- such a shame because the atmosphere and bartenders are great. Do not intend to return and do not want my friends experiencing the same horrible treatment.
