Well we LOVED IT!!

8:30pm 1/5/18 and every place (1313club) was closed and kitchens were not serving food, walked into SMOKEHOUSE, owner Shiela was our angel.
Was happy to feed us.
It was all amazing, wonderful, delicious, exceptional, great southern barbecue.

Go eat here!!

Really good food! The meat was so tender it melted in your mouth like butter, had great flavor, wasn’t overly smokey. Higley recommend eating here!

Waited a really long time for bbq that was only so-so. The side dishes were very bland. My chips looked like they were the crumbs from the bottom of the bag. And the musician across the street was dreadful. Will definitely pass on this place the next time I’m through Wallace.

So good. We had the brisket/half chicken/ 1/2 rack, mac n cheese, coleslaw. Loved it all. The Mac could have had more salt and the slaw less vinegar, other than that- Fenom

Just have to say, when the BBQ doesn’t need the sauce. It’s perfect, and that exactly what this is. Not only is it located in a cute town the place Is self is a time machine from the past. Very good. Plan on visiting again.

Sat outside as it was too hot inside.
Small portions. BBQ sandwich on the smallest bun I’ve ever seen. Had jambalaya as a side which consisted of flavored rice and no meat.
Prices seemed high.
Service very slow..even though they weren’t busy. Everytime i looked the server was doing nothing except chatting with other staff. Took forever to get check and forever to pay.
There must be better places in Wallace..probably a lot of them..

Food is excellent, a lot of people seem to visit this place. Stick with the BBQ staples (red meats, pork and fish). Wallace Brewery is down the street one block, and visible from the entrance. Take a walk straight ahead, go to the sunny side of the street, and finish your meal with the Huckleberry Shandy.

I thought the service was good, could have been better, although the location is remote. I had budgeted a certain amount of cash for the meal. Asking what the sides were, I chose one. On the bill, it was charged separately.

Finally getting the server, asked them, and although there was a notice in the paper towel dispenser ‘Cash or Check Only’, she said they do accept cards. Relieved I dug into my pocket and, had enough cash in either case. She assured me it should have been included and fixed the bill. I tipped her and all was well.

Great service! That I would give five stars. But most of the food is frozen and not made from scratch. The Mac & Cheese tasted like plain noodles and was incredibly mushy, the dessert portions were not $5.95 worthy (especially since it was covered with store bought canned whipped cream), the salmon burger was child sized, the baked beans were blah, and there buns were also not made in house. The spicy BBQ sauce though was delicious!!
The decor was old and drab, but you could definitely see potential!

This was an interesting restaurant in an eclectic town. We weren’t really in the mood for BBQ however, we stopped by since it was the only open place in town and they had outdoor seating.

Food: I ordered the nachos with pulled pork. The serving size was decent and they came with good portion of pulled pork on top along with baked beans and cheddar cheese. It was supposed to come with salsa which mine originally didn’t come with however someone in the kitchen must have realized the mistake since they came out later and apologized for forgetting it. I thought that was a good touch.

Staff: I wasn’t overly impressed with the staff. Everyone I interacted with was cold and seemed to have limited understanding of English. The only person who was semi friendly was whomever the person was who came out from the kitchen to deliver my salsa. The person who took our check aggressively snatched it from the table which made us wonder if we did something wrong, even though we only communicated with them to place food and drink orders. After sitting there for a while, we noticed that they did that to everyone around us so maybe they were having a bad day or something else was going on.

Location: located in a great location in town where you can watch the coming and going of folks walking down the road. Also plenty of street parking nearby. The establishment appears to be an old Western saloon with rustic decor. It really fits the setting and is neat to visit. There seems to be plenty of seating both inside and out, including shaded spots outside for those hot summer days.

Pros: outdoor seating, local Wallace Brewing beer selection, good location and okay tasting food.

Cons: cold staff, slow service, limited food selection and could use additional sauces on the table for the BBQ
