i’m visiting michigan and went here with a friend. i met so many wonderful people and had so much fun!! i unfortunately lost my credit card and after getting in touch with the owner, i was able to get my card back before flying back home even though they were closed. genuinely, he was so kind and went out of his way to make sure i was all set. 5 stars for the owner and the atmosphere !!!!!

We tried giving ricks a chance two weeks in a row on THIRSTY THURSDAY but they had a lame dj who would play fein then play dolly parton. then he inserted his own adlibs every 5 seconds as stated. (GO GREEN BABY), (HAPPY BDAY LEAH EVERYONE WANNA BE HA), (WHA WHA WHA WHAT DID U SAY TO ME). until you change the dj, never going to thirsty thursday at ricks again.

I guess you can get drunkards to spend 8.40 on a draft beer for an 12 oz cup , ridiculous and no one will welcome you and one person who barely checks ids is just crazy like imagine how many underage kids get past these guys and just get their friends to order drinks

Cons: Cover charge $20. Drinks $10. Cash only cover entry. TERRIBLE music. Not sure how anyone can dance to Katy Perry’s Roar, the Black Eyes Peas, or 2010’s BOTTOM 50 hits for 3 hours
Also the managers stopped the (terrible) music at 1:25am. Aren’t you open until 2?! What was my $20 cover charge for???
Pros: … (none)
Save your money and go elsewhere in East Lansing.

I have been to this place perhaps 20+ times. As for service, because all the staff remembers are students who work temporary jobs before changing, you cannot really expect good service. Some bartenders are good and kind, while some others don’t know how to make an Old Fashion. The problem here is that the hygiene is very poor even compared to the other college bars next doors.

the floors will be sticky in some parts and slippery in others, great bar if your young or really drunk, when its full and the musics going its got atmosphere otherwise when its not its kinda depressing

Wouldn’t come back here if I was paid to. The staff were all insanely rude to me when I asked about the venue. Somehow a well drink cost $16. I’ve never seen a bar with the lighting of a restaurant. And it’s just full of students in athletic wear ready to pick fights. Spent about an hour here and that was probably 50 minutes more than I needed to. Not safe, overpriced, horrible atmosphere and clientele.

It’s a dirty basement that happens to serve drinks and allow college kids to just have rough dry-humping sessions on each other. Yet overall it is essential to the MSU experience and I’ve had many great times there. My only real complaint is that their drinks are the worst out of any of the EL bars. But nevertheless it gets the most packed.

Rick’s is the quintessential college bar, sticky floors and all. They have live music and sometimes it’s the best you’ll hear for miles around. They used to have a pay side with the band, and for those who don’t want to pay cover and just drink, the non-pay side.
