Sakura House is one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles. A tiny little spot tucked away in the corner of a strip center, you would never guess how special a hideaway, and how delicious the food is! I have been going there for years because the yakitori skewers and other dishes are consistently delicious and very satisfying. If I’m going to order something unfamiliar, it’s always a happy adventure. The service is excellent also. What’s great about this place is, it’s not the “place to be seen“ with people looking down their noses at you.
Instead, it’s a welcoming and casual secret refuge from all that, with excellent food and fair prices, and so comforting it will keep you coming back.

Very nice lively spot in MDR. Make reservations, it gets pretty busy. Food was wonderful, on street parking.

This is a jewel in the rough. A small Japanese BBQ place that serves the most delicious Yakitori and other California inspired dishes. Reservations are highly recommended. Also try the cold Japanese beer on tap.

Must go here right now! Great place to eat over catching up with friends. The food fare is delicious. The skewers are meaty and you’re not getting filled up with carbs. The atmosphere is great and just overall a highly recommended experience. The chef ‍ was highly skilled and knew exactly what he was doing. Would go here again and again and again and ag…… ♾️

For over 15 years, every single time our family visits Los Angeles, there is one place we must go: Sakura House. Without fail, this incredible yakitori restaurant has been a core part of our travels, our traditions, and our most cherished meals together. Simply put, it’s our favorite restaurant of all time!!

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth, both from the friendly staff and the tantalizing aroma of perfectly grilled skewers sizzling over charcoal. The menu is a masterclass in simple, high-quality ingredients transformed into unforgettable flavors. The beef is juicy and smoky, the chicken meatballs are packed with umami, and the mashed potato filled mushrooms are a must-order every time. And don’t forget the pork wrapped jalapeños. So good!

No trip to LA is complete without a visit to Sakura House. It’s more than a restaurant to us, it’s a tradition, a place filled with memories, and a spot we look forward to returning to every single time. If you love authentic, expertly grilled yakitori, this is the place to go.

This Yakitori spot is delicious. Some of my favorites are the spicy chicken meatballs (it seems to be most people’s favorite here), the mochi (rice cake) maki. The quail egg maki was a first for me and I was not disappointed. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful.

All the food on the menu is excellent. Flavorful and well prepared. Serving could be slow but that is the point of enjoying yakidori grilled in front of you. This place is one of our go-to Friday night dinner places, relaxing with beers and great foods.

Came on a Friday night, with no reservation. We had to wait a while to get seated. No wait list or anything to write our name down, so you just have to wait to get the attention from the server to let them know. The restaurant is pretty small, around 6 tables and 10 bar seating. At that time there were only 2 servers and one kushiyaki chef, so we understand that it will take a while. Overall everything that we ordered was very tasty, Agedashi tofu, Mushrooms with mashed potatoes, Kurobuta sausage, and black pepper wings were our favorites. But unfortunately a lot of kushiyaki items are not available, all beef items, all innards(heart, liver, gizzards) and other stuff. Will definitely come back to try their kushiyaki when it’s available next time.

So delish! We never had visited this local place but in sure glad we did. Everything was yummy.

Highlights: ribeye with shiso, okra, green beans, and the mushrooms. Next time we definitely want to try the scallops.. looked amazing.

Good service, fun Beetles music, easy to park.
