I’ve been coming here for quite some time now, and I can confidently say the food has always been consistently delicious. I usually order the Kow Piek Sen — a Lao-style handmade rice noodle soup topped with bean sprouts, cilantro, scallions, and crispy fried garlic. It’s been my go-to favorite for a while.

Today, I decided to switch things up and try the Khaopoon King soup, and I’m so glad I did — it has officially earned a spot among my favorites. Shoutout to Mariah for encouraging me to try something new!

The atmosphere is always clean, calm, and inviting. The space is beautifully decorated with real flowers and softly lit candles, which adds such a nice touch. The bathroom is consistently spotless too — and honestly, that’s usually how you can tell a place takes pride in their food and service!

I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the soup this time, but I did order a papaya salad and had it made extra spicy — just how I like it. Next time I visit, I’ll be sure to update with pictures and a more detailed review.

Definitely a hidden gem.

This is in my top 3 favorite restaurants in Philly, and whether you dine-in or take-out, you’re guaranteed a good meal. You can tell it’s made with care, love, and quality ingredients! Plus, the range of menu options is great and it’s a go-to when I have folks from out of town and/or with dietary restrictions visiting.

You may pay a few extra bucks compared to other spots, but I believe it’s worth every penny. The green Thai iced tea is SO good (and so is the regular one), the pad kee Mao with beef (or any protein) is delicious, and I also especially love the curry rice noodles. The King Soup and Thom Khem will cure any illness. And the veggie spring rolls are my favorite in the city (they’re perfectly crispy).

The neighborhood may get a bad reputation, but I personally have never had any problems or issues and don’t think the location is a deterrent for me (there is parking available, it’s close to the el and bus routes, and tbh… anyone who is easily spooked by Kensington Ave just probably is coming from a misinformed place) especially considering they have lots of games to play while you’re waiting for your meal! It’s quiet and fast and soooo yummerz! But if you’re not into it or not in the neighborhood, delivery is fast and always just as tasty!

The pic of the $12 box meal shows rice &salad on the side-once again this business is not being honest. It comes in a very small container w/a small section for the salad & the entrée drenches the salad by default. This place will do anything to give you the smallest portion possible. This is why we stopped supporting their business a year ago. We gave it a shot because it was the only Thai place open. Since then, we’ve found several Thai places that are better more affordable.

Paneng Curry with sticky rice, spicy, Chicken and Extra Vegatables.
Ordered at 4:12 and order arrived at 4:35 :). Very fresh chicken without grizzle and nice thin slice. Vegetables were carrots cucumbers and beans maybe steamed lightly. Very esthetics and tasty. Sticky rice is popular there so I tried it. Fun to eat and went well with the peanut sauce. Uber eats delivered with no drama.

If you’re seeking an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Vientiane Bistro! This gem offers an incredible array of Laos and Thai dishes, each bursting with flavor and crafted with care. The menu is a delightful journey through the rich culinary traditions of both countries, showcasing an impressive variety that caters to every palate.

The ambiance inside the bistro is nothing short of enchanting. With its beautifully designed interior, soft lighting, and tasteful decor, it creates a romantic atmosphere that’s perfect for a special evening out or a cozy dinner date.

One dish that stands out for me is the steamed tilapia. It’s simply exquisite—tender tilapia delicately covered in a luscious red curry sauce, prepared with such artistry that it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. The balance of flavors in this dish is remarkable, making each bite an absolute delight.

Overall, Vientiane Bistro is a culinary treasure that combines exceptional food with an inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the vibrant flavors of Laos and Thailand. Vientiane Bistro is the bomb diggidy!!! Check it out!!!

I had lao food and it was good. Baan Xeo was on a little dryerside. It should be crispy on the outside and soft in the center. Bamboo soup was good. Green papaya was spicy which i love but they over pounded it. Did not try their Thai dishes but maybe next.

Great new addition to the neighborhood. BYOB.

Went in and tried a wide variety of things from the menu. Jake, the server, was very confident in recommending what to get and skip based on our preferences. The sticky tamarind wings, Laotian sausages and beef pad kee mow were the stars of the show. The grilled Cornish hen was very good as well. Only thing I would change is to get slightly bigger share plates.

Will be back to try more menu items

So so so so so good. Had the Brisket Pho and the pork belly appetizer. They could not have been friendlier and service was ultra fast. They were super accommodating of a friends vegan needs too. Total hidden gem

they give the smallest portions, if you order pho it just tastes like it was made with store bought broth.
they don’t give you parts of your order and then they say there is nothing they can do.
when you order direct from there they charge about 15 dollars for delivering even on orders over 50 dollars.
…then the delivery driver tries to scam you by saying he has no change.
