Fikscue Craft BBQ popped up on my social media feed, and the concept of Indonesian cuisine with a BBQ twist immediately caught my attention. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon before 2 PM, fully expecting a long wait after hearing how busy it can get—but to my surprise, it wasn’t too bad.

One thing to note is that there is very limited seating at Fikscue itself. However, there’s a beer spot next door where you’re allowed to sit as long as you order from them, which is a nice workaround and makes the experience more relaxed.

Unfortunately, they were already sold out of ribs, which was disappointing since ribs are my favorite type of BBQ. That said, the food we did order more than made up for it. We had the rendang plate, brisket, sausage, lumpia, and potato salad, and everything came out delicious. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and satisfying, with generous portions.

I also liked that they offer different sauce options for the rendang and lumpia, which added variety and depth to the meal. The employees were friendly and welcoming, rounding out a great overall experience.

While I’m still hoping to catch the ribs on a future visit, I’d definitely go back again if I’m in the area. Fikscue Craft BBQ is a creative, flavorful spot that lives up to the hype.

Fikscue was absolutely fantastic. So glad I made the trip across from San Fran. I went for lunch on a Sunday and I definitely recommend getting there about an hour before open as the lines still get impressive. Everything was fantastic, meat was amazingly well done and the sides really stood out with a lot of consideration. The Indonesian take on the slaw was unreal! Beef cheeks are a must if they have them on the specials board!

From melt-in-your-mouth brisket to dino ribs, smoked fried chicken, jalapeño cheese sausages, and just about everything on the menu — we didn’t hold back.
Sides? All of them. Balado plate, batagor, nasi goreng, rujak slaw, potato salad…
And we wrapped it all up with cendol and banana pudding.
Full belly, happy soul.

We got the dino rib, brisket, beef ribs, a rendang plate, and cendol. All the meat was very tender and smoky! I also really liked the kale curry on the rendang plate. Come early! There’s a line before opening. They have a board listing their inventory that gets updated throughout the day.

I’ve been here a few times, and each time has been absolutely delicious. Service here is also tremendous. Wait can be a bit lengthy, but it is very much worth it

Finally made it to their OG location. Got the rendanag plate, a sausage, a chicken leg and some brisket. Love the balance and the combo of classic indonesian flavors with some bangin’ TX BBQ. Worth checking out.

Walked in on a rainy day and there was no line at 12:30pm. Super lucky. We ordered 1/4 lb brisket, 1 dino rib, rujak slaw, rendang plate, coconut kale curry. Total was about $120. Not cheap. Brisket was decent, sort of in the middle of fatty and lean. Definitely had better. Dino rib was huge, but also very expensive. Nearly $40 for 1 large rib. It was super fatty and salty, but also very tender. I didn’t think it was that great, but I don’t like fatty meats. Rendang plate was decent, it had a nice variety of ingredients. The rujak slaw was excellent and my favorite item of the entire meal. All the ingredients in it just combined really well. I would go back just for this. Overall, the meats did not impress. Limited seating. There’s a row of awkwardly high counter seating inside and maybe a few tables outside. Self serve water and utensils are provided. The staff were nice. I think it’s overrated and there are better bbq places

Portions are BIG.

Get the Dino Ribs—1 rib for every 2 people in your group.

Did you get that? Don’t spoil your memory of this meal by over-eating!!

Lumpia are extremely flavorful. The fried rices are bomb. Make sure you get some collard greens. Talk to the staff and they’ll help you order right!

You can eat in Alameda Brewing next door.

Absolutely mind-blowing, cannot get over the meal we had. Yes it’s a bbq spot, the brisket and beef rib we got were both 10/10, but paired with the absolutely stunningly flavored rendang plate and delicious banana pudding… the meal knocked our socks off. Best food in the east bay. Basic bbq ruined forever.

Very average BBQ. Luckily I came late afternoon on Easter Sunday and waited about 10 minutes, because if I had to wait anything more than 20 minutes for this I would have been upset.

Maybe the Indonesian food is really the star here as other reviews have stated but it’s called Fikscue BBQ so I came for BBQ. What’s more upsetting is you see them pull out fresh packs from the warmer for larger orders rather than cutting through what is out, so they just let already cut pieces dry out under the lamp which ultimately get served to the smaller orders following the people who spend more. The meats were definitely not at its peak when I received them. For the premium they are charging, an awareness of how to maintain the highest quality product should be a given.

Unfortunately another story for Bay Area food media hyping up a spot more for the romantic backstory than the actual product, or the critics just don’t know what great food is – likely a combination of both.
