This place is so underrated!! Their Galbi (beef short-ribs) was DELICIOUS. I didn’t have any expectation to be honest. I was hungry and craving Galbi and happened to be around that area. The portion was generous too. We made the special order so it might seems plated differently from the regular bowls and plates.
I’m not even a big fan of teriyaki places but this one surprised me. It is run by a Korean elderly couple. They were super nice. I wish they could gain more customers and sustain because I really like it but I live far from there. I’m definitely going back there whenever I swing by the Gresham area.

Stopped by this Joy Teriyaki location for a quick lunch and found it a bit below the usual standard compared to other locations.
Food:
Chicken Plate Lunch Special ($12.50) – 2.5/5: The rice portions were noticeably smaller than at other Joy Teriyaki spots. The teriyaki sauce tasted slightly more tart than expected, and the chicken was tougher than usual. It filled the gap for lunch, but it did not quite hit the mark.
Service:
Okay overall. Nothing standout, but no major issues either.
Ambiance:
Very casual setup with tables and counter seating by the window. Simple and functional, good for a quick bite.
Overall, this location was fine in a pinch, but it did not match the quality I usually expect from Joy Teriyaki. I would probably choose a different location next time.

This was my first time tryin a Joy Teriyaki and got a teriyaki pork bowl it was $9.50. Having been to Japan several times it tasted the closest to the teriyaki I had there. Definitely worth every penny of that, lots of meat and a fair amount of rice too.

Teriyaki beef needs to be made with thinly sliced beef ribeye!
H-Mart in Tigard 99W will sell the sliced ribeye for $5.99 or less to restaurant owners with a minimum of 20 pounds, you should not substitute using other cuts of meat and especially hand slicing the meat.
The meat in the picture seems to be a chuck-roll.
I ordered the teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken and the total came out to be almost $29.00
Chicken was ok but the beef was really tough to chew on, it was too thick and uneven, and the marinade sucked!

Service was good. Some food was great some was less then ok. Gyoza is a must try and the chicken was well prepared and tasted wonderful.
Bad points. Rice was over cooked, salad dressing was just weird and the miso soup was watery and kinda dull.
Would I eat hear again? Yes
LOVED THE GYOZA!

ordered curry chicken katsu with eggrolls. the chicken lacked seasoning but was still crispy. curry was alright, but again, the chicken wasn’t too special just kinda there. eggrolls were the best part sadly :/

For the price that they charge you’d think the food would be hot and they have steamed vegetables instead of just some lettuce it would start to turn brown and wanting to charge three dollars for brown rice. That’s ridiculous. Ridiculous. I would never recommend joy teriyaki to anybody it’s ridiculous. The prices are way way out of control.

Great food, good service, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Serving sizes vary between dishes but is always filling and typically have leftovers because there isn’t enough room in my tummy. Restrooms always clean and prices are reasonable. Lunch and dinner times are sometimes busy but they are very efficient and I have never had to wait long for my food. They offer carry out as well.

The food was much like I would expect in the hospital cafeteria in my opinion not worth the amount of money paid for it it didn’t make me feel good afterwards if you read my reviews you’ll know I almost never say anything bad about someplace without something nice sadly I can’t do that this time
