We stopped by the Masser Toll House Inn while in Frederick, MD, and it was such a charming find. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive—she even went back to the kitchen to see if they could specially grill our homefries with onions, which they did perfectly!
The food arrived quickly, and the portions were generous for a very fair price. The bacon was cooked exactly right, and our coffee never went empty thanks to the proactive refills. We’ll definitely be back. If you’re passing through, make sure to stop in!

Great food and staff! Judy is such a sweetheart and kind soul ❤️ I have been coming here for as far back as I can remember. I always loved their chipped beef and home fries and still do. Their soups were also always another favorite. They are cash only now.

Massers is a cash only establishment. Looks like an old style dinner . An old. cigarette machine is at the door as you come in . The potatoe salad was very good . The cheeseburger sub was good . Remember bring cash .

Really MAD at myself been by this place over a hundred times. And for one reason or another already ate was going somewhere else or late I’ve never stopped . Well that stops tonight just left some friends and I was hungry so I STOPPED . Will be coming back for sure sorry No pictures looked to good and I forgot . CASH ONLY.
Well hate to do it but today was the 3rd n last time I will be going back. 1st time pork chops were awesome 2nd time they were smaller but acceptable this time they were too thin and hard to cut them mostly fat. I asked the waitress what happened you said they were still thick and look at all the fat. She asked if I still wanted it. I said yes I’ve been waiting 10 minutes and I’m hungry. Well I should’ve just left. They were overcooked and then I ended up getting like a 2 inch round piece of meat out of each one so unfortunately I won’t be going back.. she said you want to talk to the chef no it’s I won’t be back. sad I thought I found a good diner when I go to Frederick to help some elderly people I know I’ll keep looking. when she finally brought me my food I ordered coleslaw and cucumber salad. She brought me sauerkraut and greens. I asked for unsweet tea. She brought me sweet tea. I guess she was just over busy sorry

This place is lost in time, and in a fun, quirky kind of way. The empty cigarette machine that greets you at the door is your first clue! However, the food is solid diner food, and served piping hot! We enjoyed the corn fritters, mozzarella sticks, pancakes, cheesesteak sandwiches, open faced beef sandwich, and lots of veggies on the side for the kiddos. Don’t pass it by, don’t forget to try the creamed chip beef, and don’t forget to bring cash – no credit cards here!

My family and I have been going here for years. It has been a while since I’ve been in and it really isn’t as good as it used to be. It’s like the restaurant is still back in the 70s. The Texas dogs were very good, but we were told they weren’t sure how much longer they would be having those. We also ordered macaroni and cheese, which had absolutely no taste to it and it cost $4 for a small side. The turkey rice soup was good but didn’t have much Turkey in it. We were there at the beginning of lunch and some gentleman that was working in the back decided it was a good time to mop all the floors. The person I was with asked for some lemon for her water, and the waitress went and got the lemon and carried it back to the table in her hands and added it to her glass. I guess she didn’t want to dirty a dish to put them in. For the price of the food, you would think the place would be more updated. By the way, they are cash only which can be a inconvenience and also shows that they are out of date. This place is not as good as it used to be.

Do not let the reviews fool you, this is the absolute worst place I’ve sat down to eat. When you walk through the doors you are greeted by the smell of cigarettes, and a old cigarette dispenser. The booths are hard and the padding is coming off. The cups are probably as old as the place is, you can tell by how chipped and fogy they look. I honestly don’t mind drinking from the cup but the condition they were in made me feel sick. Server ignored us when we asked for straws twice before she payed us attention. We were the newbys so I can understand that locals only matter to them, as per the reviews. Food was hot but completely bland. No seasonings at all whatsoever I loaded my plate with salt and pepper. All in all I will never be returning to this place, it was like being in a horror movie. I couldn’t wait to leave. Thinking back on it now I probably should have but I was hungry and wanted to see how the chip beef was. Oh and it’s CASH ONLY. The server didn’t let us know until we noticed at the very end of the meal the small sign covered by decoration. We thought it was an old sign that’s why we asked our server. The locals are keeping this place alive but not sure how long the building will be standing before customers stop showing up.
