We dined in one of the igloos for Valentine’s Day. Food was decent. The cheesecake and mussels were amazing. Prices were high though. Staff was very nice. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.

My husband and I went here on a beautiful evening and sat outside. We had a reservation but had to wait a little longer for an outdoor seat – no problem. Our waitress, Lauren F. was the best!! She was attentive, loved every dog that walked by, and friendly. My husband and I shared a seafood chowder (chock full of seafood like lobster, bay scallops, shrimp, and fish – so, so good!) We also had the calamari (loved the sweet chili sauce). Marinara is not listed as a sauce included with the dish, but it was provided upon asking. Finally, we had the surf and turf sandwich which was mind-blowingly good. So much lobster and tender steak. The truffle fries that accompanied it were crispy and tasty!

Wonderful dinner in an atmosphere that captures the vibe of maritime Port Jefferson. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The menu is well rounded and will accommodate most palates. The wine list and cocktails are also well thought out and cover a nice range of type and cost. Castaways also carries Guiness zero and Heineken zero, bothof which are alcohol removed beers, thank you Castaways. Ordered the Peppered Shrimp as an appetizer and it was delicious, had just the right amount of spicy flavor. Mains were chili lime grilled Salmon, fresh flavor and cooked perfectly as ordered, as well as the Fish and Chips, also really fresh flavor and perfectly cooked. If you are looking for indoor / outdoor dining with a beach atmosphere and good food, Castaways is a must try.

If you haven’t been here yet, I highly recommend you stop by. The owner greeted us and was genuinely interested in our satisfaction. Waitresses were really sweet. The lobster bisque and spinach and artichoke dip were everything I hoped and dreamed. Will be returning.

We went to lunch. We ordered seafood chowder and lobster bisque to start with. Lobster bisque was delicious. However, the seafood chowder was sour. We then ordered a Maine lobster roll, blacked chicken with pesto and surf and turf sandwich. It was very delicious. The service was excellent. Our waitress always checked on us.

Everytime I come here the service is exceptional service. Chelsea is an experienced bartender who always makes sure you are good and happy. Very polite and professional. Matt and Jess are outstanding managers who make sure everyone is satisfied to their liking. I never had a bad experience here before

This was my 1st time at Castaway. The food was good, a little pricey. The decor was nice & yes, nautical. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable “small” for larger people. Not everyone is small framed. The service was good, but somewhat disappointing at times. The place was empty so, refilling glasses would have been nice. I ordered a cocktail, The Reaper, it sounded delicious and not knowing anything about booze, I had no idea that Carolina Reaper has ghost pepper in it and I am allergic to pepper. There was no indication on the menu that this was a spicy or pepper related drink. Thank God the waitress mentioned something and I had to send the drink back. They charged us for it but it would have been nice not to be. All in all, it was a nice place, good food but nothing for me says or aches to want to go back.

Tried a new resturant in downtown Port Jefferson for lunch. Castaways Steak & Seafood is a cute resturant with a nautical feel and a great atmosphere with outdoor seating right off of the main street in Port Jefferson. The wedge salad with grill shrimp was very good. The grilled shrimp was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend their salads and seafood based on my wedge salad. On the other hand, my wife’s baked potato was actually cold. It was huge but wouldn’t even melt the butter. Since she does not like seafood, the options are limited. She asked to have steak sliders that were on the happy hour menu which started in 45 minutes and even offered to pay full price but they said no. They took the potato back and never returned for another 15 minutes, at least, to let us know what they were doing about it. The manager eventually returned with the same potato, overcooked and dry. She said they usually don’t offer baked potatoes for lunch (but it was on the lunch menu). She said she was taking it off the bill. Also, each refill of unsweetened iced tea was extra.
