My visit to @tavern_242 in Morrison was even better than I initially …
Reviews
My friend and I were blown away with the excellent service, food and atmosphere. We decided to share everything we ordered. We began with drinks – the Pear & Proper, the ‘FED’ and Athletic Golden (NA). All were fabulous. Next the Deviled Eggs, wonderful. Next the Tavern Wedge, flavorful. Bacon Mac & Cheese with Short Rib, tasty & OMG I just have to come back for the dinner Short Ribs! Then the Short Rib & Ricotta Tavern Style Pizza. It was good but a bit too much arugula for me (which I found out later from the chef we could order less of that next time). We ended our feast with Tavern Carrot Cake & Deconstructed Banana Cream Pie, both to die for. The chef even stopped by our table to see what we thought of our experience and food.
Needless to say we had leftovers. We will definitely be back in the future to explore the menu some more for delicious food and excellent service!
I ordered the schilling cider in a can but he poured it in a chilled glass for me, made it taste that much better! Delicious and crisp. For my meal I ordered the rotisserie chicken Sammy because Taylor said they were known for their rotisserie chicken and I had to try it. I was honestly left speechless with how good it tasted. The chicken was tender and so flavorful. The Cesar salad paired so well with it, never would have thought to pair them together and the bread was moist and sweet. Just utterly delicious, left me wanting more. The fries were even cooked perfectly, crispy and delicate. We shared the brownie sundae after and it was the perfect sweet treat after such an amazing meal.
We arrived around 4:50pm on a Tuesday so no wait for a table and the food came very quickly. The atmosphere is trendy with a mix of sports bar. Liked all the screens playing different sports but also the place felt upscale and the service was definitely upscale. We were pleasantly surprised with the price of the food as well, our bill was under $60 for 2 drinks, 2 meals and 1 dessert.
Highly recommend this place and we will be back! There were so many amazing food choices it was hard to pick.
There is a bar side when you walk in the door. A big bar on the left of the room and tables on the right side of it. The hall to the regular dining room and bathrooms is in the room on the left of it where you walk down a short hall. There are booths and regular tables there for seating. There are several televisions strategically placed throughout the venue so it can be viewed from wherever someone is sitting.
It was busy. The noise level was quiet . The ambiance was perfect for an elegant date night mood . The decor was like a posh modern.
The menu was very readable even without my glasses. Nicely laid out with good fonts. The selections varied and were very upscale making the price amazing and affordable for good food. I tried the halibut on a potato chowder. It was delicious. The drink I ordered was the lavender Collins and I think I found my favorite drink. They happily accommodated the fact I didn’t want alcohol and made it without the alcohol. I tried the maple bourbon creme brûlée and it was good.
The bathroom was spacious and very clean. . There are covers around the stall dividers for privacy. So no one can see you between the cracks while you’re on the toilet. And you can wash your hand and dry it at the sink. Pretty nifty , classy and unexpected.
It was a good first impression. We definitely will be back.
The only quirk was our appetizer came out shortly after the entree, but we were stunned at how fast, hot, and fresh the entrees were when they arrived. Our server was amazing and accommodating. The owner stopped by our table to ensure we were having an excellent experience. The drinks were quality and they had a great selection. I ordered the smashburger (made with ground brisket and short rib…. ) and my wife had the rotisserie chicken sandwich. 10/10 will be ordering each of those items again. We will be adding this into our regular rotation from here on out!
EDIT: We’ve been back 3-4 times since the original review. No more service kinks. Ordered the half rotisserie chicken and it’s insanely good value for what you get. $18ish bucks for half a tissie and two sides(?!?). Incredible!
Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great drinks, delicious food, and top-notch service. We’ll definitely be back!
Update: tried this establishment again today and ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich with Brussels sprouts side and a pizza. We were greeted right away, everyone was friendly and the food was good.
The star of the show here is the rotisserie chicken. You should absolutely order this either in the 1/4, 1/2, or whole. The sandwich is also good.
For sides, I suggest the sidewinder fries. Quite tasty!
I did not love the Philly sandwich. It was good but a little dry.
