I ordered the Combo Lunch – Chimichanga & Tamale. The only food I ate was the rice & beans. Both Chimichanga/Tamale were disgusting!!! The bottom of the tamale was hard as rock and not edible. The chimichanga beef tips were dry and had way to much paprika (threw both away). If I could give a neg star it would be a -10. HORRIBLE FOOD!!!

Not a terrible spot for some Americanized Mexican food, but I definitely prefer Tequila or Las Fuentes.
My Dad and I stepped in for an early dinner and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is very crowded with low ceilings, but we appreciated our booth which was tucked away from the crowd. Our server was Azusena, who was friendly and VERY quick, almost a bit rushed, but understandably so due to the amount of tables she was manning.
Our food was pretty good. My Horchata was large and very sweet, a great deal for $3. The Chips and Salsa were alright. The chips were a bit stale, but we appreciated the constant refills on the (somewhat spicy) salsa. I got the Birria Tacos which were good but a bit salty, and my Dad enjoyed his Tacos El Pastor.
Sure, we’d come back, why not. Not tomorrow, but in the next year if we’re in this plaza.

Called in my order and asked about lunch special got an attitude by a guy told me it’s the same thing on the menu as always …. Mind you I have not been to el maguey in over 9 YEARS because I just moved back in town !! I told him I don’t know the menu and there is no way to view their menu online. And was like are you expecting me to read you the whole menu. No I was expecting A franchise that been around over 20 years to have a way for customers to view their food options. I ordered and went to pick up . The guy went and got my food as I was standing there another lady Hispanic with dark hair in a high bun just looked at me didn’t say hello , have you been helped, do you need help or nothing like that than a couple walk in behind me and she continues to ignore my presence but knowledges them before they can even speak . The guy comes back with my food and hands it to her and tells her it’s for me . Looking dumbfound she lets out an ooooohhhh like it was a discovery. Than says here I go and hand me my food . I said it’s funny how you can acknowledge me know but haven’t said one word to me and I’ve been stand in front of your face for over 5 minutes. The food was not good the enchilada sauce was nasty and sweet for some reason and cold though I ordered on the way there and it was only 5 mins away from me. Crappy service crap food this is not the el maguey I grew to love growing up . I will not be back . That is all I could eat and had to throw the rest away save you money don’t come here try the one in the loop or the original in lindenwood

I’m not usually a big fan of Mexican food, but the burrito here was amazing. The customer service was great, the place was clean, and the chef clearly knows what they’re doing. I can’t comment on the alcohol since I don’t drink, but the staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. Overall, it’s a very good environment. Go enjoy yourself!

I ordered the Birria quesadilla and a regular beef quesadilla.
My Birria meat was tough , a little dry , with barely any flavor. The consome was flavorless and watery like soup. Also whatever cheese they used was not good .
The beef quesadilla was also half throw together using the least amount of cheese possible.
I’ve been to the other el maguey locations and this one is definitely the worst . 0/10 would not recommend

I ordered fish tacos, asked for hot sauce and my waiter said the only hot sauce they have came with my meal. I see another waitress, ask for hot sauce and she says it only comes in an order, I said okay. I get the hot sauce and finish my meal, then I see people at the bar with three types of hot sauce in bottles. The fact that you didn’t check to see if you had hot sauce, charged me then refuse to take it off the bill is ok. I won’t spend money here again.

This is a great place in Concord Plaza. I really live the food and atmosphere. Pricing is fair and the drinks are strong. I prefer a little less salt on my food but overall it was very good.

Great Mexican restaurant with great decorations and vibe. The chips and salsa are solid. They have all the classic Mexican dishes you can expect at reasonable prices. Good lunch specials and happy hours. The platters are large and filling.
