Listen, if you haven’t been to Nonno Carlo yet, what are you even doing with your life? Forget the “Italian-style” chains, this is the real deal. Walking in feels less like a deli in WV and more like a Sunday afternoon in San Giovanni.
The Food is Mamma Mia!
I recently stopped in and picked up some Gabagool and Mortadella, and let me tell you, this isn’t your grocery store lunch meat. It’s buttery, perfectly seasoned, and frankly, life-changing.
But the real star of the show is the Ellis Island sandwich. **The size is absolutely massive. It’s built like a skyscraper.
The flavor is perfectly balanced. Every layer of meat, cheese, peppers, oil works in total harmony.
Without a doubt, the best deli-style Italian sandwich I have ever put in my mouth.
The owner is a true Italian and very engaged, incredibly knowledgeable, and treats you like an old friend the second you walk through the door. You can tell they actually care about the heritage of the food they’re serving. Between the wood-fired brick oven and the shelves of imported goods, the authenticity is off the charts.
The bottom line is if you enjoy real Italian food, you need to get here immediately. Grab an Ellis Island, stock up on that Mortadella, and thank me later.

Stopped in for dinner with my wife and dinner. We placed our order, our meal arrived and I face one of best Italian sandwiches I have ever had. It was served with homemade chips. It was a big sandwich and so nicely prepared that I was thinking to take half home but it was sooo good and inviting that I finished eating it there. I highly recommend this place as my wife and daughter’s sandwich were just as good. Thank you Nano Carlo.

Simply the best place to get an authentic Italian sandwich in Morgantown. The service is always exceptional and the food speaks for itself. Graduated a couple years ago and have to stop in every time I’m back in town. I wish the staff and the owner all the best heading into the holiday season and the new year!

Pretty nice place, thought it was a deli/grocers but nope its a restraunt to, best rootbeer ive tasted dosnt give me heartburn, people were very sweet to me too. Had a caprice sandwich which was pretty good and the chips seem home made. Atmospheres very lovely, has vintage feel to it.

I’m always looking for a great tasting pizza. I just had the best pizza of my life. It was authentic with fresh ingredients and a delicious foldable crust. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere was as if I had just walked off the street in Italy into a little shop. Bonus was watching the owner give a pizza making class right there in the restaurant.

Service here is always good. I’ve had a plethora of food items on the menu. A couple of the sandwiches, the Caprese and pictured the margherita pizza. The sandwiches are really good, really flavorful meats, cheese and other toppings. The bread is crunchy and fluffy at the same time. The pizza is flavorful, the cheese and sauce fight on your tongue for space. The basil is present but not overpowering. Maybe it’s just my pizza but I wish they would’ve crisped the crust a little more. The dough was a little chewy and I feel if it was more crunchy, it’d be a five star pizza.

Fantastic neopolitan pizza, salads and sandwiches. I have not had pizza that good since I lived in Europe. Crust was perfectly crispy without being dried out, just the right amount of sauce, cheese and meats were absolutely delightful.

We ordered a margherita pizza and a caprese sandwich.
IMO, it is very overpriced. The personal size pizza was $15 and it tasted okay. The sandwich was the same. I like the fresh mozzarella cheese but they are charging a lot for the “authentic Italian” experience.
The chips had a weird oil smell so we avoided it.
