Stopped at this place cause we were looking for Bento boxes. lol. I didn’t read the menu prior to stopping. We contemplated leaving cause we weren’t sure about the items on the menu. I am happy to report we enjoyed our meal.
Here’s what we ordered:
1. Wakame
2. Taco Sake
3. Katsu Don
The taco sake was yummy. The sauce on the taco gave poke vibes but wrapped up in crunchy seaweed that stayed together nicely after each bite. The katsu loss a little of the signature crunch after being covered by all the yummies in the bowl but overall good. Maybe change the plating to layer the chicken on top so it doesn’t turn soggy.
Great space inside. Very intimate and the service was nice.

This is a lovely place. Food is delicious. We had Katsu Don, Shoyo Ramen, Taco Sake and Taco Tuna. Pomelo Oolong Boba Tea. Decor was simple but quality pieces. No clutter, very clean. Bathrooms are super cute. There are small but decor and cleanliness is top tier.

Went for dinner. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it going north ound on Stockton Blvd.! Tiny hole-in-the wall place, but clean, and well maintained. Food was good not great. Both noodle dishes (ramen and udon) were a little too oily. Could have used less noodles and more veggies in the udon. The tacos were surprisingly good! Although, for the tuna taco (which was delicious) I felt there should have been a layer of tuna further down in the taco itself and not just all piled on top.
Service was prompt and courteous. Atmosphere was clean and quiet. Will definitely return to try out some of their other menu items.

Food came quick and hot. Serving sizes were a small for the price. 1 sushi taco was around $10 -$12. And not that big, with not a lot of fish. No ginger or wasabi to go with it. Sodas are cans, so no refills. $2.50 for 1 can of soda is a little much. Service was good. Overall, the food was good but pricey for the a m ount you get. Spent about $80 for 3 people. 2 appetizers, 3 main dishes. Pictures make it seem larger than what it actually is. Food tasted good, I just would have preferred bigger portions for the price.

An Absolute Must-Try Hidden Gem!
Just had my second visit to Engawa, and it was just as fantastic as my first. This place is truly incredible!
They keep their menu small, which clearly allows them to perfect every item. Everything is crafted with care and packs a massive punch of flavor. On my first trip, I tried their ramen and udon style noodles with the takoyaki (octopus balls), and both were absolutely delicious.
This time, I had to try their famous tacos. I ordered both the Taco Unagi (grilled eel) and the Taco Tuna, and they were phenomenal. The fish was unbelievably fresh and perfectly prepared.
Engawa has quickly become a go-to spot for me. The food is consistently excellent, focusing on quality over quantity. If you haven’t visited yet, you are missing out. I cannot recommend this place enough and I will definitely be back again soon.

The restaurant is very cozy and the food and drinks are delicious, exquisite flavors and combinations at a fair price, it is really highly recommended, my husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

I went with a friend last month in May. We came before the late lunch rush came. It was super cozy and cute.
The food was really good. The salad appetizer was okay, but the chicken wings were really savory. It also a nice sweet side.
I got the dry noodle and it was soo good. Its also spicy so if you’re not a spice person I wouldn’t recommend. My friend got the ramen which was also spicy .
The sushi tacos was authentically pleasing but also very messy to eat so be careful.

Absolutely Amazing! Had the Man soup and the broth is savory, velvety, and full of flavor!

Very cozy and cute little place. The food is just okay if you compare it to other japanese restaurants I think there are a lot better options. Rice in katsudon was just rice. There wasn’t any sauce that was absorbed so the rice was dry and it made it hard to eat the fried pork on top. The dipping sauce for the tempura felt a rather strong also. I feel it should’ve had a lighter/refreshing taste to it. It tasted like a tad water down soy sauce.

Ok, first time here & we will be going back for sure!!! Ordered the taco sake (salmon) and taco tuna. These were to die for. More sushi than pretty much any roll you can get anywhere. The taco shells were amazing in crunch & flavor. The shells didn’t just break when you took a bite like a cheap pre made shell, these held together. Both had rice at the bottom, then all the fixings on top of that and the fresh, succulent, flavorful sushi on top just amazing, and we can’t wait to go back and try more. We also ordered the Miso Ramen. Now, we will not be going back for the ramen just because of the lack of flavor. The noodles were fresh, the pork was good, and so was most of the stuff inside. The bowl was larger than most ramen’s, and the price was really good. The ground pork had no flavor at all. The broth was a bit too watery. Great broths are full of flavor and a little thicker. The egg was ok, but it could also have more flavor. We would say from our many experiences eatting ramen bowls in the states & in Japan, just a little more flavor & a bit thicker broth and you will steal the Ramen lovers from everywhere else in the greater area. Taste the broth at Fakumi ramen!!!! All the foods that were being served to other people looked amazing. So we are definitely going back and can’t wait to taste the other foods on the menu. We are definitely sold just on the tacos alone. In the atmosphere of the place was refreshing. And the people working there were wonderful. The food came out pretty quick because we got there right when they opened and more than half a place filled up and we were last to order. The place only seats a maximum of 38 people. So happy days and hours you might want to get there a little bit earlier to get a parking spot and a table. Because this place, if the rest of the food is like the tacos and and full of flavor, I guarantee it’s packed a lot.
