Came here to try this vegan spot. Upon walking in , it feels like you’re in a hour or a clothing store. But don’t let that stop you. The food is delicious
The staff are friendly. And took our order right away. We waited 10 min for our food.
I ordered Baba’s soul Platter
-Tuscan Greens, Hot Mac, Rice, beans, yamz, mixed veggies, Protein
The vegetables were cooked perfect. Season just right. This platter is the perfect combo. I definitely want to come back and try some more items.

I just wanted to tell you about my great experience here. I wish it was closer i would be a regular customer. I love all the afro centric art from the outside of the building to the inside. The food was delicious I ordered the soul food platter with fried black lentils. While we eat we played a game that we borrowed from their library. The customer service here was great they just need more ventilation for when you sit down and eat it gets a little stuffy other than that a new awesome place I discovered.

What a vibe! I tried BabA’s Soul Platter and it was lit. I loved everything on it. The food cam out pretty quickly. The hot mac and oyster mushrooms were delicious. I live the vibe of the place. I love that you can get Sea Moss here. It’s so good for our bodies. I live the merch that you can get there as well. I highly recommend if you are nearby and want some fire food.

i’ve been meaning to try this cafe for a long time, and today it finally happened! we got a walnut meat taco, a welcome plate, a soul plate, pancakes, hibiscus ginger drinks, and strawberry cheesecake. my brother and i loved everything but we’re pretty easy to please, it’s my mom that is very particular. she usually is very critical and doesn’t love trying new restaurants, but she really liked everything, including the service—the server was very sweet! highlights: i loved the mac n cheese. my brother liked the mac salad. my mom liked the pancakes. this is such a special place, my mom is planning on what she’s getting next time! we will definitely be back!

Vegan health food that is also cheap is unheard of these days. Even if you don’t like soul food, this is a place you have to check out at least once. Dining here is an experience of its own.

FOOD

Welcome Bowl ($12 for regular size):

First of all, the portions are extremely generous for the price. We got the regular size instead of the large, and it was still more than enough for a single person. The bowl comes with various carbs and vegetables, and they’re seasoned to perfection. Each bite is juicy and explodes with flavor. It does the word soul food justice.

Lentil patty ($11):

So good. The patty is closer to a healthy veggie patty instead of those super processed vegan meats. The mustard sauce inside is super yummy and complements the veggies and patty nicely. The sandwich tastes very “healthy”.

SERVICE

You order at a counter. They accept cash and card. You sit down, and they bring your food to a table.

The person at the register was really nice and acted like she truly cared about her customers. She answered all of our questions and guided us when we seemed confused.

The kitchen was a bit slow to bring out the food, but that’s usually a good sign that a restaurant is putting care into their cooking, and not cutting corners and taking shortcuts.

FACILITIES/INTERIOR

They have a restroom in the back. Just follow the hallway to the right of the counter. It was clean and everything was stocked properly.

The interior is super casual and homey. I love that they incorporated cultural aspects into the decor. I also thought it was cool that they sold various different products like deodorant, candles, and even clothes!

Baba’s Vegan Cafe is a neighborhood gem that radiates positive vibes through its food and atmosphere. I recently had the vegan mac and cheese, and it was amazing! This cafe is a dream destination for vegetarians, and I highly recommend trying everything on the menu. Just a heads-up: the business hours can be a bit tricky, so be sure to check before you go. It’s a local favorite and a great meeting place!

Got the Soul Platter with fritters for takeout, our order was ready in <10 min. Everything was delicious and the Yams in particular were very good. FYI if you’re not into spicy food they aren’t lying about the “Hot” Mac

This place has what other places are missing; flavor, authenticity, and culture rooted in umami. As a New Yorker, I truly believe you are missing out if you haven’t tried this place out. Every meal will have a lasting impression on your taste buds. The atmosphere and service is welcoming &, most importantly, the food is HEALTHY! Me and my Queen look forward to coming here every chance we get. Don’t miss out.
