Jamie Lockhart (of Lael Florals)
My wedding florist business, Lael Florals, ended our team’s end-of-year celebration at Quirk Hotel’s Lobby Bar with dessert and coffee, and it was the sweetest nightcap we could have asked for. We all shared the chocolate mousse and the pumpkin bar, paired with hot lattes to close out the evening, and every single bite was outstanding. The candied ginger on the pumpkin bar was divine and the tiny edible floral detail on the brownie brittle chocolate mousse was to die for.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The cozy table lamps were such a favorite detail, and the pink everywhere made the space feel both festive and playful. It was the perfect place to slow down together after a full evening of celebrating.

We were so well taken care of by our waitress, who was incredibly kind and even wished us well and congratulated us on a wedding season well done. That small, personal touch meant more than she probably knew.

We also fully took advantage of the pink Christmas décor and soaked up every second of it. Truly the best possible way to end our night out together.

This place is special all year round, but it’s just magical at Christmas. The high ceilings and architectural detail just thrive when filled with ribbon garland and pink Christmas trees. Loved the holiday cocktail menu, attentive staff, and of course, the beautiful pink decor. Magical!

Made reservations for a birthday dinner. Meatballs were great as an appetizer but overpriced. Dinner entree selections were minimal and after deciding online what to eat from their online menu, found out after my meal Was served that the meal did not come with the broccolini listed on the online menu. Took at least 15 minutes for them to resolve and made it more complicated than it needed to be. The potatoes served with the steak were practically burnt and left a burnt flavor. It was like overcooked potato chips. Not what i expected for a $32 meal. The risotto was terrible and the flavor very off putting. When the broccolini finally came it was super bland and i had to ask for salt and pepper as there were none on the table. The apple dessert was great. For $170 meal, i was not impressed. The leaning pink undecorated trees in the lobby could have been straightened and decorated. No frills for a bday celebration or any special gesture. Will not return for dinner which is unfortunate bc its a cute spot and has potential.

*4.5 STARS* We came here for a Father’s Day brunch. The french toast was delicious! Probably the best I’ve ever had, I’d highly recommend it if you’re coming for breakfast. The rhubarb pieces in it gave it a nice yet subtle crunch. The Eggs in Purgatory was also good, I really liked the fritters that came with it. It was slightly too saucy for me but still enjoyable. Their Quirk Spritz cocktail is okay, nothing special. The inside of the restaurant is very aesthetic and classy! I was definitely a fan of that. It’s perfect for a little brunch date with friends. The service was quick but not very friendly.

Had a great time at The Lobby Bar in Richmond! The atmosphere was stylish and we LOVED all the pink! Perfect for a night out or a casual drink. The cocktail menu was creative and well-executed, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a spot I’d return to and recommend to others looking for a quality bar experience in the city.

We attended for Richmond Restaurant Week and had a great dinner. Our server, Lila, was amazing! She was knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our dinner. The RRW food was exquisite and had a very impressive menu. We will definitely be back!

Can’t fathom why people have scored them lower. Great chef and staff, excellent rotating menu that repeats favorites occasionally. Nice atmosphere, never empty and never crowded. I have been here more than any other restaurant in the city and I love it.

The atmosphere nets two stars, but the rest of my experience left me quite frustrated. The bar was considerably busy during my visit, which was to be expected on a Saturday night. But what was disappointing about my experience was getting served dead last. The bartenders eyes passed right over us for more than twenty minutes, landing on customers who arrived well after we did before ever helping us. Normally I would have just left, but we’d waited so long that we ended up pushing ourselves out of the opportunity to go somewhere else for a drink before our dinner reservation. We’d planned on ordering cocktails, but the service was so slow that we just ordered beers when someone finally deigned to help us. Not really what I was in the mood for, but I guess I’m glad that I saved a little money? I had no desire to stay down in the lobby after this, so we headed for the rooftop for a nice view of Richmond while downing our beers and scurrying off to dinner. A bummer for sure!

This was not a good food day at the quirk hotel.. the ambience is still 5 stars because the atmosphere is very positive and delightful to be in. The staff is also nice and respectful. However, the food was a huge disappointment this time. We both got the Ted Burger and found it to be lacking in flavor and was a tad too oily or greasy. The onion inside was delicious but I was not able to order them on the side instead of fries how I wanted. The bun on the burger became soggy quickly due to them putting the sauce on the bun instead of on top of the burger. The worst were the fries. It had an ungodly amount of salt on them that no addict could endure. It was painful to eat them and had we not been starving they would have sat untouched… then we each got a desert. Both were disappointing. They looked beautiful but tasted meh… the brownie dish was very plain Jane and DRY. The strange whip tastes like air with a touch of discomfort. A scoop of ice cream and minute in a microwave would have went a long way. The banana pudding dish was just too sweet sugary to enjoy. It would have been better with more fruit inside or just less sugar. We barely ate half of each. And they were $11 each..! That’s how overbearing it was and we are moderate eaters of all foods. Meaning we can handle sometimes a little extra salt or sugar we have an American diet but lean on the more heathy side and these were just way too sweet and salty for us to eat. The decaf coffee was very strong / bitter, I’d recommend adding some vanilla or other flavor if you want to tone it down some.

I will say this is the 2nd time I’ve come. The first time was amazing. First time was 5 stars which I still have a 3 star rating. I got the same burger and fries for $22 and it was delicious. This time was just a mistake. Also we got a different dessert last time a few months ago that was out of this world amazing. But they changed the desert menu sadly. The previous dessert was some hazelnut mouse thing with little balls inside. I will post a picture- please bring it back!! It was incredible.

Also there is a meal tax in addition to sales tax so that is kind of annoying. Added an extra $5 to our bill in this case. We spent about $75 plus tip for our burgers and desserts and didn’t eat or enjoy it.

Will be timid to come back but if I do I will have to ask the waiter to exchange the fries or something or just try a completely different menu item.
