Finally got ourselves a reservation for this cute French bistro. We’ve always passed by this place from other restaurants that we go to in Ambler. It’s always busy and in the warmer weather there’s outdoor dining. We brave the artic chill tonight for some really amazing food. The vibe felt like a restaurant we enjoyed in Paris. It’s adorned with lots of pictures from France and they had a musician playing accordion.
The menu had quite a few of our favorite French dishes (escargot, coq au vin) and their specials were great additions. I will say a lil disappointed not to see patè or boeuf bourguignon on the menu (hint, hint). In any event, let’s talk about the crepe and those lamb chops.
I ordered the crepe filled with wild mushrooms and duck topped with a truffle cream sauce. Wow that was sooo good. Maybe a hint more of the truffles but that just me. The grilled octopus was not the most tender that we’ve ever had but the flavor was good as the capers really complemented the grillness (yup made that word up). My husband’s lamb chops not only looked great he said it that they were possibly the best ones he’s ever had.
We can’t wait to go back as that we enjoyed ourselves and even made friends with this couple at the table next to us.

I sat outside with my book and a bottle of wine and savored a carrot cake and espresso on a warm Friday night, and it was absolute perfection. Previously I’ve had savory crêpes and an omelette for brunch. The place is overflowing with charm, and the owner is warm and welcoming. It is the perfect neighborhood French spot!
Update: Dinner #2
Officially the best seafood spot in Ambler, reminiscent of Parc— if you’re into the most charming, best people-watching spot in town accompanied by exceptional food.
Ask about the specials! and BYOB.. Ugh.

Planchette Bistro and Creperie truly offers a delightful French experience. The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome throughout our visit. The main courses were flavorful and expertly prepared, showcasing authentic culinary skills. The desserts were absolutely the cherry on top, perfectly satisfying our sweet cravings. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy delicious French cuisine in a cozy setting.

Went for dinner for 2 on a Thursday night. Ordered the soup de jour (lobster bisque), chicken entree, and hanger steak with frites. The soup was great. Chicken was okay (mushroom sauce was good). The hanger steak was okay. I expected more for paying $40 per person. It was nice to have BYOB. Maybe lunch or breakfast would be better…I hadn’t tried the crepes.

We visited this past Saturday afternoon to explore crepe options nearby. We were disappointed in the service and communication from our waiter. The bread was cold and hard. The la viande crepe with duck was delicious. The grilled octopus had an odd taste. The fried calamari was average. We were also surprised by the price of the octopus compared to the portion. Overall, we did not have a good experience during our lunch here.

I have enjoyed lunch and dinner here in the last couple of weeks. Both were during the week, and it was quiet. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. For lunch, the burger and frites were cooked to order, the Croque Monsieur looked amazing, and the special seafood crepe that I took home for dinner was delicious. Dinner food and service were amazing. There are so many specials! The lobster bisque was rich and creamy; the Moules in white wine sauce and frites were perfect and the Dover Sole, fileted with precision at tableside was a picture of fine dining. I understand it is quite busy on the weekends and early in their tenure we had a mediocre experience on a Saturday night with a large party. The renovated decor, seating, and table placements are huge improvements. A new favorite in Ambler! Thank you!

Dinner Disaster- I have never written a complaint previously. This place is all about profit. How many 15inch tables can be packed into one space. Table cloth covering an outside table which is not flat. Very tricky finding a place for the bottle of wine, plates, etc.. So when the waitress reached in to remove something, the glass of red wine spilled onto my wife’s white pants. Accidents happen. Owner rewatched the film from the camera and naturally deemed it our fault vs. a collision, uneven table top or the waitress. Offered nothing as red wine is not coming out of the $100 pants. You get the keep the $140 without a tip, never returning and the leftovers we forgot being so miffed.

Absolutely exceptional service and atmosphere. This is a true European place. It’s a BYOB which a huge plus. You can pair your favorite wine with food.
I got to try escargot, foie gras for appetizer. Branzino dish is a whole show highly recommend. And veal was prepared perfectly!
It’s definitely my new favorite French restaurant!

Lovely place. Nice atmosphere, good food and service. The accordion player on Friday night makes it feel like you are in Paris. For appetizers we had escargot and fried calamari, very tender. Beet salad was delicious. Our rack of lamb and seared tuna entrees were perfect. And the crepe filled with berries and topped with ice cream was a nice way to end a perfect dinner.
