Anyone driving to Fairbanks needing lunch should stop by this place and try it out. H&H Cafe.
Our server was Rod. He was very friendly and kind – he moved to Alaska 40 years ago and has been here at H&H for over a decade. Great service!!
It’s about 1 hour outside Wasilla up the Parks highway. About a mile past the Talkeetna turn off.
We had a delicious burger, patty melt, breaded mushrooms & fries and a fantastic bread pudding. The recipe is over 70 years old! Yum!!
Very cool atmosphere too with huge plants, tons of Alaskan artwork and pool tables. Big windows face the lake.

I was nervous walking into a mudroom with weed pipes, we had to ask where the restaurant was and then we’re told to keep walking and entered a bar setting with pool tables.
Staff could’ve been friendlier, but not terrible. If you want someone to order a cheeseburger vs a classic burger with cheese; maybe add it to the menu ♀️
There are dogs wandering around and even sit by your table begging for food. There’s also a dog tied up out front.
The water was horrible.. I would compare it to drinking blood or rusty pennies.
I ordered a cheeseburger, it was delicious. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. The fries had a good crunch without being hard.
The view was very relaxing after a long day hiking around.

Great service. Delicious food. Beautiful view. Highly recommend.
We stopped here for lunch on our way to Denali. We are a family of 4, 4 mo old and 3 yo toddler. Husband ordered the french dip and he commented as amazing, the best french dip he ever had! I had a cheese burger and thought it was a solid burger, meat was well flavored. Toddler got the grilled cheese and it was yummy as well. Rod took care of us, very nice man. My first impression was questionable because of the pool tables and bar like atmosphere but the dining hall was very comfortable and the view takes your breath away.

Being a local, there isn’t much for food around here. H&H has historically had some good burgers, but this last one was just okay. Very little fries, so if you want some you should order a side of them. This last burger just had a huge patty, with the fixings. Bottom bun got soggy, it was to go.

It’s all about a state of mind….great little dive bar, that not really a dive bar at all. We stopped in for lunch…friendly staff…food was good, fresh, hot, fries were hot and crispy. Would definitely recommend stopping and grabbing a drink and a plate of food. Beautiful views from that back of the bar.

There is a very private campground here for Rv’s. We had an amazing lake view with snowy mountains in the back drop. They rent canoes and paddle boats. You can see the rainbow trout and the clouds the reflection of the water. Electric and water hook ups and a dump site. Very friendly and welcoming. Grab some firewood for a campfire and there are picnic tables at each site.

Very homey! From your table you can look out the window and see a lake (in our case, a snow covered lake). Very picturesque. This is pretty much a burger place. I ordered “The Gut Bomb”(a California, mushroom, bacon burger all in one). It was very good. I could only manage to eat half of the burger so I took home another meals worth of food. My wife ordered “The Bleu Burger”. She enjoyed her burger and took home half of it as well. After we finished eating, the owner stopped and chatted with us for quite a while. A very friendly place. Worth the stop!

So this is a nostalgic place for me. A regular lunch stop while king fishing along the parks hwy that our family used to make 30 years ago when it was a busy truck stop. Today lunch is expensive and there’s no more trucks stopping so you’re likely to be the only guests but the view out the back of the lake and the burl wood and wildlife mounts inside still make it one of my favorite spots!

Great old-timey atmosphere, super friendly staff, and the food was AWESOME. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, and the fries were perfectly crispy. Extra bonus: you can’t beat the lake view while eating your awesome meal. You can even walk down to the lake while waiting for your food. Will definitely be back.

Man this place is cool. Down home, vintage, old school Alaska. The burgers were fantastic, and we sat by the window with a great view.
