R&B’s Steak and Fries is one of Austin’s most popular food trucks, and it’s easy to see why. True to its name, they specialize in cheesesteak sandwiches and French fries—and both are excellent. The steak is tender, the bread is perfectly toasted with a crunchy crust yet soft and flavorful inside.
When we stopped by for a Thursday lunchtime visit (our first), there were plenty of tables available and parking was easy to find—always a big plus in Austin. A special shout-out to Chris K., our attendant, who was genuinely kind, helpful, and welcoming.
First visit, but definitely not our last. Highly recommended.

Amazing service, very warm. Take cash for tip, their pos system doesn’t lets you add a tip. Best cheesesteak in central Austin so far and I’ve been on the hunt for a while. Super fun to order and dine inside Grackle, one of the coolest dive bar on east 6th. Do not fear, great cheesesteak is here.

Came on a Tuesday night. Cheesteak sandwich was in a word – delicious. Perfectly cooked. Great fresh bread. Provolone cheese was the perfect choice. Thanks Jordan! Next time I’ll try it with bell peppers! If you’re jonesin’ for a great cheesesteak in Austin, look no further than R&B’s Steak and Fries. Absolutely incredible! R&B Steak and Fries is a hidden gem in Austin that totally blew us away. The steak was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor.
The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. You can tell they care about quality and service.

Siblings Kris and Arman are the founders of R&B’s. The two serve up authentic Philly Cheesesteak Hoagies and Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.
Philadelphia is known as the “City of Brotherly Love,” and these brothers have got you covered. Amerosa rolls- check. Quality steak – check. Cheeses, oh yeah, American, provolone and of course whiz. Don’t forget the peppers and onions. If you wanna give it a little ATX flair, add jalapeños (Kris loves it this way).
R&B’s also offers a regular steak sandwich and steak hoagie which you can customize with your choices of toppings. Fries are available on the side, and i recommend getting them with cheese, jalapeños and BBQ Sauce.
The truck is located in a small food truck court just off of the corner of 6th and Comal Streets. There are tables all aroubd the trucks, including some in the shade. When you need some Philly love, head over to see them. You won’t be sorry!

Visually the food is an A+… taste… yikes. I ordered food for pick up during the weeks so Maybe it was an off day, there are so many great reviews. So, I’m confused as to what happened with mine. You can clearly see pepper was used but maybe that was the only seasoning used? Cause it was BLAND. Super bland. The meat was just that… cooked meat. The bun tasted doughy. The fries were… cooked. *shrug* I don’t know how else to explain it other than they were flavorless.
I ate it cause I was hungry and I paid for it. But honestly, I was so unsatisfied I should have tossed it.

I ordered the cheesesteak with whiz cheese and all the toppings. This is the one for me. It was great! Polite service and hot/fresh order.
The Grackle is right there also if you need a solid spot for a drink before, during, or after you eat.

Food truck set up.Chris gave excellent service. The cheesesteaks were tops. Lots of meat, cheese and mushrooms and tender steak. The fries well seasoned and crispy. Picture only shows half of the fries. Sat out on a beautiful January day at the picnic tables.Thank you Chris!
