Purple Rice in Salcedo Village, Makati is an excellent spot for flavorful Thai food, and we really enjoyed our dining experience here. Every dish we ordered was delicious and well seasoned, with bold and authentic flavors that stood out. The crab fried rice, chicken satay, tomyum, and pad thai were all highlights and tasted consistently good from start to finish.

Serving sizes are generous, which makes this place ideal for large groups or shared meals, as you can order several dishes and enjoy them family-style. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, and service was attentive enough to keep things moving smoothly. Overall, Purple Rice is a great choice in Salcedo if you’re craving satisfying Thai food with portions that are good for sharing.

Arrived here a bit past 1pm and a Table was available. I ordered the Solo Set which included Chicken Pad Krapao, Tom Yum Soup, Papaya Salad and Longan Juice. The Pad Krapao was good, The Tom Yum had that right mix of flavors, the Papaya Salad was flavorful and the Papaya had that Crunch to it, the addition of Salted egg was a welcome addition. The Longan Juice was Refreshing and it had a Generous amount of Longan, it also had that right amount of sweetness. The Highlight of my lunch though was the dessert, the Purple Sticky Rice with Mango and Taro Ice Cream was the Perfect end to my Lunch. The Taro Ice Cream was delicious. Overall it was an Enjoyable Lunch, Staff were Fast and Efficient.

This was our second time around, and it is still a 5-star experience.

Kudos to Ralph, the supervisor who served us. He was very accomodating during our dinner. Truly a good customer service. We had prawn pad thai, tom yum goong, chicken fried rice, and grilled angus beef belly, and mango sticky rice. For our drinks, we liked the volcanic cha yen the best. Aside from the taste, the food had really great presentation and are good for sharing. It’s a bit pricey but Purple Rice really is value for money.

The tom yum soup and the dipping sauce of the bagnet is too sweet hence the 3 stars for the food. I would have given them 4 if it were a balanced sweet, sour and savory but such was not the case, the sweetness was too overpowering. The food is ok. Service was kind of lacking. There was a big group that arrived and sat behind me. I saw the waiter give them a big bowl of kropek. Mind you, I arrived first and I was already waiting a good 5 minutes. So I asked if that was complimentary and the waiter said yes. Then I said, bakit ako wala? He then proceeded to give a smaller bowl for me. I also did not like it that when this waiter served the mango sticky rice to me his fingers were already at the tip of the bowl of the spoon. Don’t they teach their wait staff how to handle utensils properly?! How unhygienic! I did not use the dessert spoon he handed. The place is nicely decorated but I think there are better Thai restaurants that won’t drown the food in sugar. The purple rice is a nice touch though.

We are so happy this casual Thai restaurant opened in our neighborhood. We have been 4 times since it opened and the food and service are consistently very good! Favorites are the papaya salad, crab curry, crab omelette, and pad see ew. Generous portions and quality ingredients. Fun mocktails and cocktails to try too. There are two levels of indoor seating. Note: the upstairs dining room (not wheelchair accessible) is a bit loud when full. A private dining room for 8 is also available for reservation.

GOURMET PRICES FOR NOT GOURMET-TASTE

Actually the food tasted good – just not anything special or gourmet, which is the reason for my low rating: the taste and quality did not justify the steep price.

I ordered “fluffy” crab omelette, and I have to say, that tragically, it was nowhere near fluffy. It was the opposite of fluffy: over-fried and mostly air. The crab meat on it was also not fresh and it had tiny shrimp (alamang) in it, which I specifically asked about and was assured was not part of the ingredients. I got a mild negative (allergic) reaction and felt horribly nauseous. At the very least the omelette should have been fluffy because I mean it’s just omelette and it’s the most basic dish ever, and even I can cook an actual fluffy omelette and I am no chef.

The purple rice was also very expensive but it was, again, not fresh. It was clumpy and cold and just… nothing special to warrant it to cost nearly 100PHP a solo serving. Yes, the nearly 700PHP crab omelette did not even come with rice. The prices definitely set a high bar and so my expectations were high as well, and they were not met, sadly. Even if I really like Thai food, this was one of those meals you really wanted to enjoy but end up regretting spending on.

The staff was very nice and attentive though so there’s that. I have tasted better, for friendlier prices, for sure. I don’t know if their other dishes are any better but yeah, I don’t recommend this place.

If the prices were more at par with the food quality (which I think is worth less than half their given prices) I would have at least rated this place 3 or 2 stars.

Purple Rice! Of course we tried their Purple Sticky Rice. It was paired with mango and taro ice cream and the taste was magical. The Kra Pao, Bagoong Rice, and Tom Yum were top-notch. The drinks we ordered, Mango Zen and Volcano Cha Yen, were super refreshing. Plus the customer service is great! Definitely will come back.

Food is really yummy! I like what we ordered. I’m most impressed with the staff. If our server couldn’t see us, a fellow server would help us out or call the attention of our server. The teamwork in this restaurant is impressive.

We went here late night and they were
exceptional. The service was great and they were very kind and welcoming. I haven’t had proper thai resto food (only fast food thai) but this set the bar very high! we got the tom yum, chicken pad thai (a new fave) and angus beef. All the food and drinks were soooo good. Def a must try. The price was also not too bad.

Purple Rice is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever visited. The quality of the food is exceptional, and the service is equally impressive. All the staff members are very accommodating and friendly. Special mention to our server, Ms. Gwyneth, and Mr. Mhemel, for their outstanding service. I would also like to commend their manager, Ms. Camz, for being very attentive and welcoming. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant.
