Ravioli, lasagna & other traditional Italian dishes offered in a snug restaurant with a mellow vibe.

Since moving to Hamilton this has to be the worst place I have gone to eat. First, we waited over an hour for a wrong salad, a slice of pizza and garlic knots. We only received them after we complained. The pizza was like 3 days old reheated pizza and garlic knots that had no taste what so ever. We asked for chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce and they brought regular chicken parm. When asked about the vodka sauce his response was I wrote the vodka sauce on the slip. Then when we go to eat the chicken we couldn’t even break it apart. When we did there was barely any chicken at all. It was mostly breadcrumbs (you get more chicken at wawas). We told the waiter this and they just took it away. No apology no resolution nothing. When asked for the check, he came and plopped it on the table with out saying anything at all. Very bad service and horrible food. Def will never go back there again. And I suggest everyone save their money by finding a better place to go.

This was an amazing, mellow, genuine Italian dinner. The process are reasonable, and the probs are healthy. I and my date both had house salads. I had the veal parmesan, she had a salmon over a risotto special. With the tiramisu, and mini canolli desserts we got it for less than 80. This is BYOB, so bring something nice.

Generous portions of well made, homey food. Very pleasant, competent but unobtrusive service.

Ate lunch at Amaya’s yesterday with a friend. It was a fantastic experience. The owner/chef immediately greeted and seated us. Warm and DELCIOUS rolls were brought to the table. We ordered the cannelloni and eggplant rollatini. The meals included a very fresh garden salad. The portions were generous and the two sauces were fabulous. We were re-supplied with additional rolls without asking. The chef explained that he is inspired by his grandmother’s recipes but makes them his own too. The chef was very warm, friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is named after his 6-month-old daughter. The menu is extensive including pizza, salads, sandwiches, pasta, meats and seafood. I highly recommend Amaya’s. The prices are reasonable. We’ll be back!!

DO NOT GO HERE. One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The bread was undercooked. We ordered the artichoke dip and it came out like a soup. The waiter has no understanding of the menu and brought two of the wrong ordered dishes to the table 45 minutes after we ordered. Instead of Cannelloni he brought a desert Cannoli. And totally forgot to put in one of the orders. Every pasta we ordered was mostly cheese with little pasta. I wanted to like this new restaurant but the experience was awful. Do not come here.

Went here for dinner at an early hour. There is only 1 server not enough if the place is busy. Rolls came out way before the salad so they were no longer nice and warm when the salad came. Salad had lots of romaine hard white pieces in it. We pulled them all out as they are nasty. I had bolognese sauce which had lots of meat but was not at all sweet. My husband had sausage and meatballs with his pasta and it was quite good. Server did not refill drinks or even offer to do so. When we went to pay the check, they did not have enough money in the register to make change for a $32 check paid with a 50 dollar bill! The sever had to get money from the cook in order to make the change. WHAT? Then he handed my husband the change in the check folder instead of just giving him the change which was mostly ones and a couple of 5’s Not sure if we will go back again as service left a lot to be desired. One thing that did stand out was the amount of typos on the menu! It was quite funny to see all of them! Honey mustar dressing and others were rather amusing and there were many! It is obvious that nobody did any proof reading before the menus were printed!

I was there this past Friday for dinner with my sister, first time for me. Inside is a bit tight; thankfully we were seated against a wall so that we had a little buffer from the traffic. There were also only two servers for a Friday night, which definitely slowed the service down. I personally don’t mind that because I enjoy a leisurely, true Italian pace for my meal (read: SLOW), but for others it might become an inconvenience. However, the reason that the pace is so slow became evident when our meal arrived. This food was amazing. The marinara is authentic, home made and you could tell how fresh it was. Pasta was perfectly done. Meatballs were pretty tasty but absolutely melted off the fork and absorbed the sauce perfectly. I was really blown away. Amazing restaurants like this reinforce the fact that the Hamilton area has some of (if not THE) best Italian cuisine in NJ. It also has to be mentioned that everyone inside, from the host to the servers, were incredibly friendly and made us feel like we were over their house for Sunday dinner. Absolute home run. I highly recommend.

After passing by this place many times and reading the reviews, I definitely had to try it out. I was a little nervous at first because the average age of the patrons was about 70, but it ended up being a great experience. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. Wednesday was Music Night which made it really fun (go and bring a nice bottle of wine, it’s a great time)! And the food was good, my boyfriend and I ordered two appetizers and pasta and were happy with everything. We didn’t have any room left for dessert so unfortunately can’t vouch for that. Will be back to try the rest of the menu and enjoy more music!

I have never had a bad meal here. Tasted more than 20 different menu items. Butterfish, lamb, and the pork and fig appetizer are awesome. The vodka rig is my fiance’s favorite! Anthony and Donna are great. This place is a BYOB. This entire review is based on when this was Mafalda’s and I have not been to Amaya’s Pizza and Italian Eatery.
