Please Don’t!!! Ordered online, it took over a half an hour after the time it stated online that it would be ready (almost an hour total). The place was packed with just people waiting for their food. They had banana pudding on their sign out front, but had none. Now to the food, NO! Nothing about this is smoked or legit in anyway. The ribs were dry, covered in nasty sauce, and TINY! The brisket could not have been smoked, I will never believe that, no smoke ring in sight. The chicken is at least edible, although not good, just better than the worst. The pulled pork ewwwww I shudder!! I couldn’t eat it, spit it out and my dog wouldn’t eat it. The baked beans are sour gross, coleslaw had no seasoning at all, ewwwww. The only piece I liked was the hush puppies, and those are just run of the mill, but at least edible. Oh and lastly, I ordered pork grinds and they did not have that either, wanted to swap it out for something else, no, refund please! Huffy cashier then proceeded to do other things then eventually came and gave me my refund. All around such a bad experience, food was disgusting! Heed my warning, go somewhere else, and business owner, please do quality control all around.

What a great place to stop on our road trip! Traditional NC BBQ. We really enjoyed this one. Brisket was the favourite, then ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Great food, great service, easy to get to with parking. Thank you

1st time here today. The young girl with the brown hair in a ponytail behind the register really needs to pay more attention. I had to tell her my order 3 times and she still had questions. Simple order…brisket sandwich, fries, slaw. Asked the difference between reg and huge…more meat, bigger roll, both? She had a blank stare, didn’t know what I was talking about until I showed her the menu. Then she asked if I wanted brisket or pork…hello??? Is anyone in there? I said brisket multiple times. Ugh. So frustrating. Let’s see if she gets my “well done” fries right, or my entire order for that matter.
Someone else came in and said your bathrooms are locked, she asked if they wanted the key to unlock them
UPDATE: Well, fries are limp, and no coleslaw. When I asked for it again, she said it’s $.50. I told her I ordered it with my order. She copped an attitude and rolled her eyes. Won’t be back here again.

Very good BBQ place. Had the pulled pork and brisket, both were extremely good.

The meat itself is very well made and full of flavor.

The sides are surprisingly good as well as hush puppies.

If you like quality barbecue, this place will not disappoint.

The rubs are sweet. The ribs wast the best meat. Pork was mediocre. Fried chicken was overcooked. The dark meat chicken was even so dry that it required a lot of water to be drunk while eating it. I couldn’t even taste any smoke flavor in the brisket and would question whether it was smoked or just cooked in a slow cooker. I was not impressed with the food. The best thing on the plate was the potato salad. Okra was not crispy. May have need to allow the oil to get to the proper temp before dropping them in to cook.

The pulled pork is just ok – nothing special. The hush puppies surprised me as they were very good. The guy running the place was very engaging and entertaining. I probably should have tried the brisket.

We love their food and spoke to either the manager or owner of the nags head location and they said they could accommodate making enough food for 20 people that we would actually come and pick up and we gave them the date and they said it would be handled. We have called two days straight and the phone is not being answered and from what Google looks like they’re not even open during this time of the year. Now we have to find a last-minute place that will make food for 20 people.

Sooey’s may just look like a typical southern restaurant however this little shack is way more than being typical .Their pulled pork sandwich is one of the better ones I’ve had, same can be said with their hush puppies, and their prices are very reasonable.Everything at this restaurant is at least decent it might not be amazing all of it but it will all be at least decent this is true for their cornbread, mac and cheese, and tenders.Along with all of this their staff is very nice and hardworking. All of this makes Sooey’s one of my favorite spots to eat when I am down in the Outer Banks.

Good little BBQ joint. Service was very friendly and had good suggestions. Most of the seating is outdoors, they have a rooftop eating area. Mostly built for take out.

Great little hidden treasure! Indoor and outdoor seating options. Can also take out. We had meat trio, mahi mahi and funnel fries. All was fabulous! Waiter was attentive. Atmosphere was laid back and welcoming. Will go back when we come into town.
