Might be the best Mexican in the area.

Undiscovered! Only 7 reviews at the time of this writing. There seems to be some confusion regarding the deli called Taqueria la Mexicana next door, which is also great, by the same mom and pop proprietors, and shares its kitchen in the middle.

The food is simple in the best way possible. Satisfying and made with love. Not too heavy or watered down for gringos.

Can’t go wrong with enchiladas de molé, birria or tacos al pastor, torta de milanesa de pollo (chicken cutlet) sandwich with special bread and everything on it, tamales and so on. For some of the best of everything, the molcajete for two is a great value. Grilled short rib, skirt steak, cheese, shrimp, chorizo, jalapeño, whole baby onion, tortillas, rice and beans and more. I was recognized as the only single person ever to finish the whole thing. I’ve not seen the chocoflan dessert elsewhere — recommended.

The drinks are remarkably well balanced and fresh tasting. No sour mix in the margarita to ruin it with stale funk. Why the other restaurants can’t be bothered to squeeze a lime is beyond me. Sangria also highly recommended. Ask about freshly made, nonalcoholic agua fresca including hibiscus, watermelon, horchata and other rotating flavors.

Go to the dining room for festive decor and murals, or special events. The bar room has a nice long bar and TVs with soccer and baseball, but also high top tables.

Go get yourself something at once both new and familiar.

Delicious! First time here and I was so impressed. The empanadas, elote, and birria were incredible. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, and I love the bright, colorful atmosphere of the restaurant. Can’t wait to come back!

This place is GORGEOUS! They were closed for a few months, but they’re back and they have a live DJ on weekends and DELICIOUS cocktails (GET THE LAS VEGAS DRINK) and they’re hospitable and share their delicious cuisine with grace and love! I literally am trying to move into this place!

It’s difficult to find Mexican restaurants Around the area that check all my boxes. This has surpassed everything I expected from a place so hidden away. The drinks are delicious and the food is tasty. Prices are fair in today’s economy and the staff is friendly. Authentic Mexican food with spicy salsa on the side for a true Mexican experience.

I had tamales con puerco (pork) and churros with vanilla bean ice cream with a cocktail called Media Luna which is mezcal, strawberry syrup, cointreau and lemon juice. It was served in a terracotta mug and the rim was coated with tajin. The first sip was an amazing flavor bomb that left a lasting and satisfying impression on my taste buds. My tamale was tender and moist and the pork inside was seasoned and slightly salty which was really appealing and the churros…ohh my goodness, they’re served warm and they’re coated in cinnamon sugar, crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside – they were almost creamy! I have to say that all three parts of my meal were distinctively different in flavor, but they complimented one another, one flavor wasn’t dominated by the other. The cocktail was made by experienced hands, but not the kind of experience that comes from a two week course in New Rochelle! I will definitely return, with friends and family who I know will appreciate it as much as I did!
