Opened in 2025, Riley’s Bar + Burger is a restaurant located at 100 E Montana St. in the Bay View neighborhood.

Alright, folks. This is it. I mean it this time. Riley’s has the best smash burgers in town. It is not one of the best, I believe it is THE best.
The beef blend is superior to anything I’ve tried lately. The bun is perfect. The Riley sauce is very similar to the Big Mac sauce except with added depth and flavor. I was very skeptical about their sweet pickles but all I needed was one bite to become very convinced.
They recommend the double for a filling meal, but the single is still an awesome quick bite option. Fries and onion rings were also great. Nothing about food here made me feel disappointed.
Ambiance is pretty basic, and I really like it. There is nothing special about this building. It is clean and spacious and very welcoming. Bathrooms are clean and the table was clean. Most table seating is counter-height chairs but normal tables are also available.
Service was beyond incredible, our server was very helpful and patient with us. They use Toast mobile ordering system (scan QR code to place an order). They also have self-serve Kiosks for ordering. Additionally, you can still order at the bar. Food will get delivered to your table either way.

We tried double smash burgers, cheese curds, onion rings, fries and drinks all were delicious! Burgers were juicy and jalapeño gave it a nice touch of spice. I’m not sure what was in Riley sauce but it was great! Cheese curds were big and tasty and fries had perfect crunch and spice. Onion rings were ok. Atmosphere was fun as we waited for food we played corn hole and had great laughs.

It was pretty good, more of a drinking place but the food is really good and service was fast. Dart boards and music, nice little atmosphere for drinking with friends or even a first date. My wife and I did a date night there and it was great. Affordable burgers as well, great customer service.

We had a great time for our boy’s birthday. We all enjoyed the big yard, and the picnic table seating. The owner was kind enough to gift him a desert treat which he absolutely devoured. We loved the burgers and fries, and our man enjoyed his burger too. All around, this was a fabulous experience and we hope this business thrives. Thanks for a fantastic memory!

I’ll start with the great, the food is amazing and the outdoor patio area is a great space with friendly servers and bartenders. I will be back in warmer weather for that reason.
What is slightly disappointing is they no longer allow dogs inside the building, a change from when they opened. I’m a huge fan of Riley’s in the third ward so is a bummer they arent keeping with the concept in this location. So I suppose we will not be there in the colder months or during inclimate weather. I hope they reconsider this stance in the future as I thought Riley’s whole premise was a dog friendly environment you usually don’t find elsewhere.

I made the assumption because when we stopped in relatively soon after they opened, looking through the open garage door, I saw a dog or 2. But now I know that hasn’t been their normal policy. I still wish we could bring our pup inside in the winter, though!

We went a few weeks ago after their soft opening. This is one of those times I waffled between a 4 and 5, wishing I could do 4.5…. Think once they are up and in full swing this will be a really cool spot to hang out with your dog or meet friends.
We had friends recommend this place, so it was a bit of a drive for us. It is cashless and when you go in you find a seat and place your order via the QR code and food is brought to you. Order your drinks at the bar. It felt a little self service, wish they had a little smoother system, but we did have someone come by to double check we were doing ok and to ask how the food was. Has that feeling of a local place cheers bar/burger joint.
The food we ordered was good. We went for late lunch, so we weren’t starving. I ordered the burrito – could only eat half and took the other half home (reheated great for the next day). It was delicious – flavors mixed well, loved the avocado in it. My husband ordered the smash burger – double patty. He loves mushrooms on his burgers, said it was delicious, but definitely get the two patties. We were only indoors – high top seating – next time we want to check out the outdoor space. Definitely dog friendly!

Honestly…one of the BEST burgers we have ever had!!! We didn’t even go anywhere else, we just kept coming back. It was better than Gordon Ramsey’s BURGER in Chicago. Not even kidding, get the Riley burger and cheese curds, you won’t be disappointed. I wish this restaurant was at home in Boise, bc my husband isn’t a burger fan, but he loved this one! Too notch, don’t even bother with DT Milwaukee!!!

The food here was top notch. I ended up with a double smash burger and cheese fries. My wife got a single smash burger and she ended up getting a second which isn’t like her at all. Worth every penny. Will be back again soon! The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and the beer selection was great! Inside atmosphere gives off a dive bar feel almost but the outside atmosphere is great.
