A nice, cozy coffee shop in Port Deposit. We stopped here on the way back to VA and were wowed by the hospitality, food, and drinks. The croissant was flaky, bacon crispy, and egg cooked to perfection. The latte was great. I’d recommend anyone stop by if you’re passing through or visiting the town.

As someone who’s constantly on the road for work and stopping at different coffee shops all over Maryland and PA between appointments, I can honestly say this was one of the best lunch experiences I’ve had in a long time.
I stopped into Cool Beans for something light and ended up getting a pit turkey sandwich and their caramel latte and wow. The sandwich was incredibly delicious. The pit turkey had that perfect just-off-the-grill flavor — warm, tender, and slightly smoky.
But the real standout was the caramel latte. I’ve tried caramel lattes from just about everywhere you can think of while traveling for work, and this was by far the best one I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, smooth, and actually tasted like real espresso instead of syrupy milk.
Service was fast, the atmosphere was great, and it’s clear they care about quality. This will definitely be a regular stop for me when I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

This is a cool little spot with cool people and great service! These guys hands down have the best cappuccinos around! I have heard their breakfast is really good. I’ve only had the lunch sandwiches and they are awesome.

We stopped at this amazing spot on our way to Atlantic City—about 15 minutes out of the way, but absolutely worth it. I ordered a peppermint mocha and was told their syrups are homemade, which you can definitely taste. It was hands down the best coffee I’ve had in the States.
The food was just as impressive—fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. I would gladly make the drive again just to come back here. Highly recommend!

Loved this place! Port Deposit is a perfectly small and quaint town. And Cool Beans fits in perfectly well. The food was affordable, fresh, and tasted great. I really enjoyed sitting on the front sidewalk with our breakfast and taking in the town. Highly recommend!

What a great place to stop for coffee. The owner mixes the beans himself. I prefer decaf – wow, what a great cup of decaf. You can just tell he made it with care; so delicious! The food was great too. They smoke their own turkey out front on the porch, which is neat. There’s not a lot of seating inside; but, if your lucky you’ll score a table to sit at. 10/10 Recommend!

If you’re staying at Great Wolf Lodge, you should 100% get breakfast here instead of the overpriced, mediocre stuff available onsite. (I am directing this review largely at lodge visitors because I’m assuming that locals know what a treasure Cool Beans is.)
Our family had breakfast at Cool Beans today–breakfast carnitas; a breakfast bowl; the Boo (sausage egg and cheese with hashbrowns instead of bread); homemade apple cider donut; blueberry muffin, and an iced latte. Everything was terrific, but the Boo and breakfast carnitas in particular were amazing. Breakfast carnitas has gotta be a top 10 breakfast food, no joke. The latte was also really good, much better than a chain coffee shop.
The staff was super attentive and friendly. But the best part was that, a group of local guys/regulars was there, having coffee and just talking about anything. At one point, they got into a lively discussion about whether the shirt one of them was wearing was a “hoodie” or “a long sleeved shirt with a hood.” They polled all the staff and even asked our family–the guy wearing it did a little fashion show spin to show it off. (We said long sleeved shirt.) It was a hoot, and reminded me of growing up in upstate NY, where everyone was friendly, loud, and didn’t take themselves too seriously. Best breakfast ambience we could have asked for.
Next time we’re in the area, we’ll definitely be back at Cool Beans.

5 stars!!! Conveniently located for a trip between Pennsylvania and Virginia. Not your ordinary cafe deli. This place offers high quality, delicately curated menu items. Jack is extremely pleasant and does an outstanding job with care and attention to detail. Make sure you stop and give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the OG, The Larry, The Commander and the Super smashed Borger. Good eats!!
