Guatemalan + Honduran = incredible food!! This adorable new restaurant is right near the 69th St Station in Upper Darby and was SUCH a great find. Our group was only slightly familiar with these food cultures, but the wonderful woman running the restaurant helped us pick dishes and explained them in English – the menu is in Spanish, which some of our group speak, but don’t be intimidated by words you don’t know, many Latin American countries use different words for the same foods. The food is an incredible mix of fresh crunchy textures from fresh and pickled veg, perfectly cooked meats (from fried chicken to steak), and creamy sauces. Expect a little heat in some dishes, but not spicy spicy (although they had several additional sauces so looks like you can turn up the heat). We had the churrasco, fantastic steak in a pillowy soft wheat tortilla, pollo con tajadas (the best fried chicken possibly ever on top of fried plantain slices covered in veggies, cheese and creamy sauce – DO NOT MISS THIS), tacos and flautas. Three of us ate plenty (we’re good eaters) and we took a good amount of food home: prices are reasonable no matter what, but very good for the amount of food and the quality. The interior is warm and fun, with plants, cute art and original architectural details, plus a sweet spot for Insta pics. Super clean, everything seemed made with real food and fresh ingredients, including the hibiscus juice (basically a bright red hibiscus tea, usually with some lime and sugar, but not too sweet here). It’s also right near H Mart, so great for a refuel after shopping. We came from Center City and it was 30ish minutes and parking was easy to find. Highly recommend and plan to be back ASAP!
