I love Japanese food and the service here was good but the taste was not very good. My dish did not contain carrots and I confirmed that when I ordered that I would not be receiving any carrots because I don’t like them and my plate came loaded with them even though it wasn’t on the menu as part of my dish. The egg rolls were crispy but they did not taste very good. I didn’t eat it I ended up spitting it out because to me the oil tasted old and I didn’t want to get sick. There wasn’t much flavor in the chicken or the rice.

The food is good, the shrip sause was water down, and smaller portions that I’m use to at Japanese restaurants. However, Mars Hill, North Carolina is a small area. Unless you want fast food instead of a sit down and have your food served to you? Then it’s your only choice.

I would give this place a negative star rating if possible!
Our waitress was rude and uninviting. After taking our order she never returned to the table. I ordered the combination plate steak, chicken and shrimp and asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare but all of the meats were well overcooked! My wife never received her food and we sat there for over an hour. The owner tried to make a multitude of excuses and never offered to compensate us for the meal other than to have us spend more time waiting on him to cook the food. We had an appointment and could not wait around any longer so that was not an option. Then he still tried to charge us full price even for a meal we didn’t receive.
We will never return to this place ever again and I would encourage anyone else not to consider it at all!!!

I did take out here and it was not very good. I got the Chicken Chow Mein and the chicken was over cooked. The noodles were mushy too. It was not my favorite and I tossed out my leftovers rather than saving them for another meal. If I order here again I will stick with their specialty–teriyaki chicken and rice.
My husband noticed that their food service rating was 93, which seems pretty low. I checked online and their rating has been as low as 86! That doesn’t inspire confidence!

I’ve gone here a couple of times a week for years now. Convenient on the way home from work and the food is always delicious. But the business was recently sold. While the food hasn’t changed, the speed of service has crawled to a halt. They are understaffed and don’t know how to handle it well at all. It’s practically chaos to try to pick up your food and it takes 30 mins or longer to get an order, whereas before it took 5-10. I’m about to give up on them.

I cannot understand how or why this place is still in business. The place smelled like rotten fish at the front door and only got worse as you were seated. The restrooms reeked of sewage and the smell percolated into the dining areas. The service was horrible and the food was too. We wanted to leave but others in our party of 8 did not wish to insult the hosts. The food was as bland as possible, and tasted like it was prepared a few days ago in old, dirty pans and oils, then recently microwaved to get it room temperature again. Judging by our experience, one would suspect they have it “in” with the health inspector as their last inspection (3/2015) was a rating of 93 – A.
I can only hope that another asian food place will come to the area soon.

Five stars based on food alone. Was looking for something other than fast food on my drive from Asheville airport to Johnson City. At first it didn’t look open. It was between lunch and dinner. One woman doing everything, but she did a great job. Food was delicious.. definitely stop if you want a good meal!

Pleasantly surprised ! Food was made to order , vegetables are fresh and prepared to perfection.
Don’t be fooled by outer appearance ( needs upkeep of signs) . We wanted sushi type rolls which they do not do, however glad we were that we stayed and will go back when in area again.

ordered take out, first time from this place and was very disappointed. ordered the steak and chicken combo plate as well as the steak and scallop combo plate. both plates had less then 1/2 cup of both meats and the carrots… that is a half cup in all, not each. for $30 for 2 plates I expected to have at least 6 oz of each meat. and the “fried rice” was just an off white colored rice, was not fried rice by any means
