After the success of their upscale modern American Eatery, Lucy’s in Auburn, AL, the two have been dreaming of a fresh spin on a burger concept that one might find in Palm Beach or the Hamptons. Their focus is to provide a fast-casual burger and fries experience while using the highest quality ingredients from local sources in a seasonal, modern, Californian-inspired way.

Little Darling is such a cute and welcoming little burger spot in Hey Day. My fiancé and I went and had lunch and it was amazing. The burgers were filling and the fries were flavorful. All the ingredients on the burgers were perfectly matched to satisfy our cravings in every bite. We will definitely be back when we are in town!

We experienced issues with both our meals: I ordered a double cheeseburger and received a single, and my friend’s burger came loaded with onions despite requesting none. To make matters worse, the single patty we did receive was noticeably small—especially considering the $13 price tag ($16 for a double).
While the ingredients seemed fresh and the fries were serviceable, the execution and value left something to be desired. At this price point, I expected more attention to detail and a more satisfying portion size. It was good—but not great—and the order mishaps brought the experience down a notch..

I read a sign that stated that I was in store for the best burger I have ever tasted. It was not by far. I ordered a classic with all the fixins; lettuce, tomato, beer mustard. The burger didn’t have any lettuce, no tomato and the flavor was no where near good. Some how it tasted overly salty and at no point did it resemble the taste of a burger. I had a tasted meat sandwich that was bare able at best. Maybe the best burger someone has ever had but not even close to what I expected from a burger. Sorry.
