Mexican restaurant is opened about 10 months of the year. Breakfast is good, not great, but still hits the spot. Lunch buffet is alright, wish there were a better selection. I have not tried a regular lunch plate. Does offer seasonal capituridada. Inside of restaurant needs an upgrade. A popular place for state troopers during breakfast and lunch. Overall the best meal of the day will be breakfast for the City Market Mexican Restaurant.

I don’t typically eat from buffet lines due to health reasons, but I passed that phobia today and dined on some of the best Mexican cuisine that I have had in a long time. The carne nopales serving was perfectly cooked and the cheese enchiladas wanted me to go back for seconds. I would have preferred flour tortillas but the white corn tortillas fit the bill just fine. The calabasa was certainly inviting but I didn’t want to make a pig of myself. They offered two very nice desserts with a cookie in chocolate pudding or watermelon cubes but I opted for the pudding. Plus, they served the Texas-sized glass of sweet tea which I couldn’t finish.
And the only thing that did not fit was the name which is now Honky Tonk Restaurant which lived up to it’s billing with quite the array of C&W music emanating from the sound system. I am definitely going back for that $6.99 meal.

As of 3:30 10/24 /18 the restaurant is permanently closed. It’s a shame as it was good eating.
