If you love omakase, this spot needs to be on your list.

16 courses for $85 — starting with a trio appetizer, followed by 12 pieces of fresh, buttery nigiri, and finishing with a perfect hand roll. Such an amazing value for the quality.

Food was delicious and chefs & host Leanna were super friendly. Their attention to detail was excellent and we left with our bellies full. Will be back next time we’re in town!

I had the 13-course omakase at Sushi Kai’s West Village location and loved every bite! Each piece was so fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the pacing made the whole experience feel special. The vibe is cozy and intimate, perfect for a date night or a solo treat. If you’re looking for high-quality sushi with great ambiance, this spot is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!

First Omakase experience, so amazing, staff was so friendly, answered all our questions, were so respectful. The quality of the fish was absolutely superior for the price! Please visit this location, we will be back!

This was my first time trying an omakase style meal, and it lived up to my expectations . The chef was considerate of my dietary restrictions and made the whole experience a pleasant one. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s tried omakase before or are thinking of trying it.

Sushi Kai West is the best! Chef Jimmy was very informative and attentive, to the food and the customers. Every bite got better and better! Liana and the crew were amazing as well. 5 stars all around!!

Went here for their Valentines Day omakase experience and its crazy how the only difference between the regular omakase and the Valentines omakase was that it is an extra $40 for a bland cheesecake. I was so disappointed, the sushi rice was cold and hard. The experience was underwhelming because we were sat away from the counter and it felt like the workers had no clue what was being asked of them. I love the lower east side Sushi Kai that place was the best omakase I have ever had but the West Village location had to been the worst omakase experience I have ever had.

Sushi is all about freshness.
I would have preferred if not that much seasoning put on the sushi.
$85 omakase is a fair price, though.
Like others commented, and agreed by us, that chef prepared sushi like a robot, lacking of interaction with customers.
Water was replenished promptly enough.

One of the best omakase spots in the city!!! The price is reasonable & and we especially enjoyed how fresh the fish is. Among our favorites are the fatty tuna toro with caviar, wagyu beef with uni, torched scallop with caviar, and the bowl of rice with uni + fish

In essence: AMAZING fish (the chef told us that they hand select the fish daily with a first round of tastings at 2pm before they open the doors to customers) with delectable customer service. We recommend booking a reservation for the 5pm or 5:30pm slots as the restaurant is chill & laidback around this time. The chef also told us that they get quite busy by 7pm so it’s understandably hectic if you dine in a full dinning room as opposed to a more personalized experience in a more spacious setting w/ less people

We loved the ambience as well. It’s well worth your money. I saw some criticism below from fellow commenters about the chefs not being engaging- that’s untrue. I had delightful conversations with them, you just have to initiate & be respectful. Some people here may be foreign to this Asian culture of respect and courtesy lol

We personally loved how interactive & lovely this omakase was, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a delightful omakase experience with delicious food & incredible presentation. 10/10 across the board

Well priced set menu with a range of classic and unique sushi options. They do have some smaller sake bottles for individual diners although I wish they had more options. Service is friendly and prompt. Good spot to check out if you want good sushi in the west village!
