This is the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. As soon I sat down I knew I was in a good place. The tortilla chips are hand made and fresh. The salsa tasted incredible and home made. The cheese dip tasted amazing and NOT from a can. The Al Pastor Tacos are incredible, period. I will no longer go to any Mexican restaurants within driving distance.

We went for date night. Tried something new… Steak a lo pobre. Ordered it “rare”.. It came “medium”, barely pink. Wife’s chicken dish was fine. Service was great, as always. In the future, I’ll stick to standard Mexican food. This is not a steak place.

Great place to have your Mexican dinners. Noise level is low. You don’t have to raise your voice to talk with your dinner partner. Food is really great and prices are not expensive. Workers are very courteous. Our favorite in Waxhaw.

Service was excellent. Extremely reasonable prices. I had the steak carnitas. Sirloin with grilled onions and peppers. Served with your choice of tortillas flour/corn …beans with cheese and Mexican rice. Also a good sized spoon of guacamole . I comes with a free drink Monday through Friday. It was $7.55. I would recommend this place to anyone in the Waxhaw area. The only thing missing is a bar area.

We went at 11am on a Sunday, right when they opened. The staff was incredibly attentive and so friendly. The food was top notch! Best Mexican food I’ve had in this area hands down. We will definitely be back!

We went for lunch. The food was A++ quality, but it seemed they were short of staff and we waited for nearly 45 minutes for a chimichanga plate and a Speedy Gonzalez (a taco and an enchilada). The staff members that were on duty were very friendly. The waiter kept coming to our table while we were waiting for our food and asking if we needed anything else, like more chips, or salsa.

So glad I work within walking distance of Don Julio’s. I’m a huge Mexican dish fan. Don Julio’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I go there so much, they know my order already. If you like quality mexican at an economical price, Go to Don Julio’s.

Food is what you would expect at any Mexican restaurant, but what they do differently is they have a great house hot sauce to go with your food, and personal interest in their customers. Our children got a complementary desert, and we didn’t ask for it. So, great service points!
