Good food, nice place, lots of seating options, including a gathering place for a larger group.

Chicken fried steak was very tender and delicious. White gravy very good. Potatoes a little too whipped, not a fan of brown gravy next to the white gravy, Green beans canned, warm ciabatta dinner roll very nice.

Western omelette tasty, a little more scrambled than omelette, so good he didn’t mind. Good hash browns assorted toppings available.

Good cheap coffee endless pot. $3.50 for two cups.
So far best breakfast in Algona.

Highly recommend.

Second visit. The owner won’t let you swap a vegetable side for a cup of soup, which is also listed as a side. If your lunch plate has a listed vegetable, generally canned green beans, vs. a nice little cup of homemade soup. Forget it. Our waitress was great she got me broccoli instead of canned green beans. Broccoli was let’s say a notch above raw, it was a great addition to his Southwest salad.

They have some good looking cinnamon rolls, but the staff drop the check with no mention of a sweet treat offering.

THEY DO NOT SERVE ALCOHOL! AND THE SIDE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH YOUR MEAL! We ordered a sandwich and the server asked what we wanted for a side. Assuming a side was included we ordered a salad. It was not included. Our drink glasses were packed with crushed ice and there was little room for the soda. Each glass came with a straw as the server touched every rim with her fingers. And our server wasn’t interested much in refilling them. I guess the reason for the high ratings must be because there is only a Mcdonald’s to compare it to. Sorry for the folks of algona.

Food is always delicious. My favorites include the cowboy burger, the homemade Mac n Cheese, and the chicken Alfredo Fettuccine.
The staff is polite, quick, and always smiling.
It tends to get loud but honestly who doesn’t love a good home-town feel restaurant filled with chatting and laughter at every table.

Stopped by for lunch on 11/8/2023. I was greeted by an incredibly friendly waitress. The menu was varied and I went with a classic Reuben on toasted dark rye and onion rings. The sandwich was of good size and the ingredients were all in just the right proportions to have a balanced flavor. I also enjoyed the onion rings although the sandwich was the star of the show. Definitely a great option for those looking for breakfast or lunch in the Algona area.

Terrific lunch! We had the pork burger with homemade potato salad. Outstanding, I had never had a pork burger before and will definitely be back. Owners were there and very friendly. In town for a family reunion and will definitely come back again next year.

Visited this quaint ,family owned restaurant for their Sunday Breakfast Buffet. I’m visiting Iowa for 1st time. We were seated immediately, drink orders taken and picking up yummy scrambled eggs. Biscuits n gravy. And YUMMY french toast cut into dunking stix. Drinks were refilled in timely manner, and of course with a smile!
I have to admit;
I got full before I could try the cinnamon rolls that I could smell from time we walked in… So I took one with me. Oh my! It looked innocent enough, but the decadent icing on the yeast rolled with the most delicious cinnamon mix. I’m sure when you have one at restaurant, the slight warmth makes them even better!!
Oh..I forgot to mention the Vanilla Sky. Snicker Doodle, and Red Velvet specialty coffee drinks we had..they were great, and they are available all the time, so come for food. Stay for lovely coffee drinks, and friendly staff!!

Two mimosas on the menu, yet somehow they’re “out” of mimosas 30 minutes after opening on a Saturday. Hyvee across the street, you’d think they could go stock up since that was one of the main reasons we chose this restaurant.

Food portion size has drastically decreased since ownership changed from Danny and Cheryl. 2 omelets and some hash browns, $28 bucks! That breakfast used to cover the entire plate and you couldn’t finish it all and had leftovers to take home. Not anymore. Very disappointing. What you get for what they charge, it’s not worth it. Sorry chrome this is a fail!
