Overall, the food is there. The scathing reviews of the Dirty J are pretty funny, but honestly, too harsh.

I really like the sandwiches & salad bar, am okay with the pasta and pizza, and need to be in a certain mood for the Galley and chef’s line. The desserts are decent, the breakfast is good, and the drink selection is fantastic (if the machines are stocked, that is). I gotta say, the price of my meal plan is pretty extravagent for the food being served in return, but luckily, The Marketplace is not too far away.

Living in Central Suites, I enjoy The Junction for the convenience more than anything. Again, the sandwiches and salads are great and make for a good lunch worth the meal plan.

The place could be a lot cleaner, and the employees could be a bit more attentive in getting food out (cough cough Junction Galley).

Overall, it’s just okay. I find it’s worth it to ride my bike to The Marketplace over walking to The Junction 90% of the time, but for that 10% where I just want some food from somewhere close quickly, it’s okay.

I usually eat everything. In my whole lifetime this was the first restaurant that I have been absolutely disgusted and refuse to eat. I have no clue how cheap they manage to be, but their ingredients are absolute garbage. Their “Mac and cheese” isn’t mac and cheese, it’s half cooked pasta with sprinkled slightly melted shredded cheese on top. How cheap do you have to be? They can’t even use the cheap Kraft. So many time I have eaten their the sodium was so high. Either get off campus housing or get a place that doesn’t require a meal plan. USU housing is horrid in general.

Do NOT go before 9:00am. I know the website says breakfast is from 7-11, but they dont bring out any food until 9. All they have for the first two hours are a waffle maker, cereal, and the salad bar. I walked for 15 minutes in the cold expecting a warm breakfast… but nope, I left with nothing but unnecessary carbs and disappointment.

If you have food allergies you might as well just starve. They will tell you that things are free of a certain allergen but they are not, the employees have a 75% chance of not knowing anything, and despite having ‘gluten free’ labels on many things there is no significant attempt to stop cross contamination. Of course if you are in housing where a meal plan is required, by the time you realize that your health has tanked, it’s too late to back out. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE CELIAC DISEASE OR OTHER ALLERGIES!!
Employees are usually nice and generally willing to help. But they are not very informed about allergies.
During the 2023-2024 year there were many more options and a lot more variety. Now it’s pretty much the same three things every day. Will drive you insane very quickly. Not usually good quality food either. If they are serving fish you would be better off eating cardboard. Unless it is sushi, which they made quite well, and stopped serving at all.

The average dining experience at the junction is not great. Usually the most edible thing there is a soft serve ice cream. Other times it’s the desert but never the real food. The only reason I go to the junction is because the other food place on campus is not open. If I could I would never set foot in the junction ever again. Except to get their soft serve ice cream. It is entertaining to watch the lives of college students, either they are falling apart or doing cartwheels.

Absolutely unacceptable. I ordered pasta to-go with no meat at all because I’m vegetarian, and when I got home, there were huge chunks of chicken in the box. This isn’t even the first time. I avoid this place for a reason, but the few times I’ve given it another chance, it ends up contaminated. Once I ordered just fries and there were literal pieces of chicken on top. I get it—you use the same oil—but this is beyond that. It’s pure carelessness.

On top of that, the management is terrible and the workers always look miserable. No one seems to care about doing their job properly, and it shows. The whole place gives off bad energy. If you can’t respect basic dietary instructions, you shouldn’t be running a restaurant. This place is a joke.

The Junction is definitely a bit pricey, especially if you get the meal plan. The atmosphere is alright, and the workers are nice, but the food can be pretty… questionable sometimes (namely Chef’s Line and the pizza/pasta. The sandwiches are usually pretty good). 3 stars for being “just okay.”

The professional chefs do a great job. The other lines here are good food. Like the sandwich and salad bar, and pizza station. This is a cozy cafeteria and located near housing. I like that they make their own ice cream flavors.

Called the Junkyard for a reason. Really crappy food that will definitely make you sick every other week. I know the work environment must be horrible because the student workers seem to hate life when they’re there. Which I also feel leads to kind of an unsanitary attitude around the food. Regardless though it wouldn’t be good anyway.

The Junction is an absolutely pathetic excuse of a restaurant. They rely on forcing students in on campus housing to buy overpriced meal plans, and thus have no incentive to make good food. They don’t care about customer satisfaction in the slightest. The food is almost always terrible. Terrible is an understatement. It’s a freaking joke. If this was a real restaurant they would go out of business because of how pitiful the food, service, and cleanliness is. Most of the employees are incompetent. They don’t have any sense of urgency or pride in their cooking. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A MEAL PLAN!! You will regret it!
