Our favorite place to go for a sweet treat. Would highly recommend the Ukrainian cake to anyone who hasn’t tried. The sourdough bread alone keeps us coming back again and again. Today got the pumpkin soup and a pastrami sandwich and was delicious!

I am delighted to share that my initial visit today was a truly enjoyable experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. I particularly enjoyed the raspberry lemonade and the delicious sourdough loaf, both of which I would rate a perfect 10 out of 10!

We always try to find somewhere new to try on our way up north. This place will be a staple! Pastrami sandwich was amazing. Lemon croissant, so good. Even the day old sandwich bread we used for grill cheese, I would buy again. We forgot about the Babka, I think it was called, and didn’t eat it til 3 days later. Still soft cinnamony goodness!

Just tried the sourdough for the first time last night and already got myself a loaf this morning. Hands down some of the best bread I’ve ever eaten in my life. Can’t believe this is my first time hearing about Chef Sergey’s after being in Midland for 4 years, but thank goodness I did!

Best Croissant EVER! Plain, Lemon Custard or Strawberry custard. Thank you for choosing Midland as your new home for this incredible bakery. It is obvious that quality matters to you and this is a labor of love. When I saw the Basque Cheesecake in the case I couldn’t believe it! My lucky day! My friend from San Sebastián (Basque Country in Spain) introduced me to Basque Cheesecake and it’s a must have for anyone who thinks they know cheesecake. I’ve been back everyday since. LOVE THIS PLACE. THANK YOU!

Very cute cafe, my family said their treats were delicious. My chai was very good. It was disappointing to see that they used the same tongs to grab regular baked goods and my gluten free baked good. I had to throw it away. Great place for non-gluten free people.

Coffee’s Good, But the Pastries Fell Flat

Just swung by Chef Sergey’s this month, curious to see what it’s like now, though I missed its opening buzz. Honestly? It was a bit of a disappointment, despite a few bright spots.

The real letdown for me was the pastries. Most of what I tried was either dry or seriously lacking in flavor. It’s tough to recommend them. The only one that stood out, and I’d maybe consider getting again, was the Ukrainian cake.

The bread was just okay, nothing to write home about. However, the coffee was the clear winner here. It’s pretty good and surprisingly strong for Midland, which was a welcome surprise.

Overall, while the coffee might tempt me back, the general experience was a miss. As of this month, it feels like they need to do some serious work, especially on their pastries.

This is an incredible spot for Midland. Top notch quality, the croissants are dreamy and you could use the sourdough bread as a pillow it’s so soft and airy with a perfect chewy crust

They say the secret of happiness is to lower your expectations. Well, we had very high expectations for Sergey’s bakery opening so big chances of disappointment… well, we are NOT and truly enjoyed everything we tasted so far. The French baguette, the butter croissant, the pistachio square croissant (tastes as good as it looks) – all of them 10/10, very well done, taste, texture, all of it.
Extremely happy you came to Midland and I am sure we will come back MANY times for more…
