Grindhead Coffee – Chattanooga, TN

Grindhead Coffee is an easy standout in Chattanooga. Even during the day, the theming is awesome and full of character, with a clear nautical influence that makes the space feel creative and intentional without being over the top.

One of the coolest touches is the **custom tabletop games**. They’re a fun, unique addition that gives you something to engage with while you hang out, and it really sets Grindhead apart from a typical coffee shop.

The **merch is legitimately cool**—well-designed and clearly thought out, not just generic logo items.

Most importantly, the **coffee is good**. The drinks are well-crafted and flavorful, with nautical-themed names that tie into the overall concept nicely.

Overall, Grindhead Coffee feels original, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. A great stop whether you’re passing through or looking for a place to slow down and enjoy a solid cup of coffee. ☕️ ⚓️

This place is awesome as it is decked out with pirate stuff all over!!! The coffee is good too! Next time we will try an apple empanada mmmmm
The girl who helped us today (12/20/2025) right at closing was so awesome and friendly!
I also wish I could have a coffee mug skull just like on their sticker. That would be so rad!

I have been wanting to try them out for a long time and was never able to catch up with the truck being from dalton, but finally got to and it is absolutely amazing. Great music playing very chill and helpful staff. Tons of exciting merchandise and the coffees are amazing! The breakfast patsies are very good and got s huge kick out of the miniature bottles of tabasco sauce. They exceeded every expectation I had and they definitely earned a repeat customer anytime I am in the area

Grindhead Coffee is my new favorite coffee shop in East Brainerd and Chattanooga in general really. In my opinion the coffee tastes SO much better than Starbucks. It’s smoother, richer, and actually tastes fresh instead of burnt. There are lots of different options but lately I’ve been enjoying their cappuccinos and chai.

Also the staff is always so friendly and welcoming which makes a difference in my eyes. You can tell this is a locally owned coffee shop that truly cares about its customers. The pirate vibe gives the place personality and makes it feel fun and unique instead of corporate. If you’re looking for a great local coffee spot in East Brainerd, I’d highly recommend checking out this gem!

I stopped here to get coffee because the Dutch Brothers out in front of it does not serve regular black coffee. I was glad I stopped!! The service was spectacular and the coffee was very flavorful. Keep in mind I drank black coffee but the beans they use have a very wonderful flavor and I am certain that this will carry over into their lattes and cappuccino. If you are ever in this area please stop in and feel free to reply to my review with your thoughts if that is possible.

I’m obsessed with this hidden gem! The atmosphere is amazing! The coffee is always really good and the people are friendly!
Honestly I don’t know how it’s not the most popular coffee place in Chattanooga.

It’s behind dutchbros and the sign outside is not exciting but once you go inside it’s totally different.

I recommend the salty sailer if you have a sweet and salty tooth!

We’re glad we found this really cool Caribbean pirate themed coffee spot! Coffee is excellent! We chose 4 different coffees, 1 hot and 3 iced, and a strawberry/raspberry lemonade. The royal fortune, Davy Jones, and the Flying Dutchmen. Definitely stop in and give it a try. There’s also a nice games area and coffee beans for purchase. The employee was very friendly and fast, we really recommend.

This place is so niche and so neat inside! I felt like I just walked into the Pirates of the Caribbean movie! The barista, Bailey, was incredible. Top notch customer service. We could not have been more impressed with the coffee, the ambiance and the above and beyond customer service!

My friend and I came here on a whim to check this place out. I haven’t heard of this place before, it looks fairly new. This place is located in a plaza with a couple of other businesses so there’s a bunch of parking.

When we arrived, Bailey helped and picked drinks according to our taste. She’s cheery and very friendly. I ordered some time of latte with Lavender and oat milk and my friend got the Crows Nest. I don’t remember the name of what I got, but Bailey suggested my Lavender latte (with I think white chocolate?). It was some combination like that.

Anyways, my drink was decent. This is a drink I normally get when I go to other coffee places. I love creamy oat milks and lattes, but this drink wasn’t creamy enough for me. Also I felt like the lavender syrup was a little too sweet and potent. It overpowered the drink at times, it was just a little too sweet for me. I took a sip of my friend’s Crows Nest and I was delighted upon first sip. It was delicious, not too sweet, and good. Maybe if I tried one of their chais or ordered that one, I would’ve had a better experience.

There were so many good things about this place. I thought the coffee shop was cute with the pirate theme and decor. All the employees that we were interacted with were wonderful. It’s just my drink and the qualms I have with it. I’d come back to try their other drinks though.

My favorite place in Chattanooga for coffee!

I usually get an Anne Bonney here as my “reward drink” at the end of a shift and it is a welcome balm after a hard day of work. The staff is helpful and friendly and the coffee is fantastic.

Also, the pirate theme is just fun! They always say “Ahoy!” when you arrive and the pirate theming is everywhere.

Love this place!
