I didn’t pay attention to their hours so I came in at 4PM. They close at 4. They were amazingly flexible and started cooking for me and another person asap. I had been getting patty melts for awhile from them and no one is making them better! Just tried their fried chicken and it’s delicious! Thank you just need to get there earlier…

A cozy spot, I went for lunch. The new owner was highly accommodating for an error that was made. The fried chicken wings and banana loaf bread were delicious! I gave some to my 10 yr old daughter later for dinner who asked me where was it from bc it was so good!!

got a busy signal for 15 minutes straight,so I drove in to find no one there eating or in line to get food. two new young girls running the place and the old man in the bar. ordered 2 Denver omelets with cheese, Greek toast and potatoes well done. now after eating here for almost 15 years I expected to get fried potatoes but instead I got some dried out shredded potatoes that tasted like cardboard. then when I got to the omelets there was an eggshell in it that I ended up chewing on. at this point I was done when I called and asked about the potatoes all I got was sorry we switched a couple weeks ago.how about warn your customers that there not purchasing what they are accustomed to paying for. not sure I’ll be going back again after all these years. such a shame

I no longer live in Illinois. But when I did, this was a great place to get food.

Pete is a fantastic guy. He owns the place. He will always help out and loves conversation.

Thanks for all the hard work Pete!

We have been getting omlettes on the weekend for about 7 years. Ham n cheese, extra cheese, potatoes well donee. Got an overcooked omlette that was not edible, barely any cheese, potatoes were cooked but not even brown and pancakes fell apart trying to eat them. It was the worst breakfast I ever had from anyplace. If this is due to new owners hopefully they close soon and someone else that can cook will take over.

Absolutely horrible. They used to provide amazing food and service. The last 3 times we’ve tried getting food from hot grill, it has progressively been worse. And today, was Absolutely not even edible

This was our first time at this diner. Friends told me we have to try their Greek potatoes with half chicken. Absolutely loved the flavor of the chicken when most chicken is dry. This had an over abundance of juices coming from it. Not only was the food grade the Employees definitely love their job. This is a definite repeat.

With a name of “Hot Grill” what else do you need to know? H. G. serves mostly grilled sandwiches. I tried a Breaded Pork Tenderloin. It was about as basic as you can get – breaded pork tenderloin in a roll with lettuce, tomato and dressing – not the big”flying saucer” kind.

But for a place that’s been in this location for 23 years, they have done something right. The small brick edifice is next to a small slots joint, but don’t let that bother you. The tiny dining area is about 20 x 20. Hot Grill is a true Ma & Pa establishment – Ma’s at the counter and Pa mans the grill. I enjoyed my visit. Both Ma and Pa are got for conversation. As I mentioned, the tenderloin was not the winner. But their main line is other sandwiches, gyros and Greek dinners.

Didn’t even know about this gem till I did a Google Maps search looking for a new breakfast restaurant. I was looking for one with a 4.5 star rating or better, and the Hot Grill was the second place listed. I have to say that the 4.7 star rating they are currently getting as of today is a bit under how I would rate them. The food was fantastic. It came to the table very quickly and was piping hot. I had the Veggie Omelette special, while my husband had the 2 Eggs, 2 Bacon, 2 Pancakes special. We asked for the potatoes to be cooked crispy…and they were perfectly crispy and perfectly caramelized. And the service was great. The woman who ran the front counter was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return to this gem!
