Nestled in the vibrant food Public Market of Emeryville, Tease Southern Kitchen offers a tantalizing dive into Southern comfort cuisine with a modern twist. On my first visit, I was immediately drawn to their fish plate, which turned out to be a standout dish that truly blew me away. The fish was super fresh, perfectly seasoned, and fried to a golden crisp that retained its flaky tenderness inside. Accompanying it were equally impressive cajun fries – hot, crispy, and well-seasoned, proving that even the sides here are treated with care.
Curious about portion sizes, I asked the cashier how many pieces the plate comes with, and he explained it features one whole fish cut into three generous portions. This transparency was appreciated, and the execution was exceptional, making it a highlight of the meal.
That said, not everything was flawless. I opted for the lobster add-on, priced at $10, but was disappointed to receive pieces no larger than the size of M&Ms. For that cost, I expected more substantial bites that matched the quality and presentation of the fish plate. If I were presenting the lobster to customers, I’d elevate it similarly – perhaps with larger, more prominent portions to justify the premium.
Overall, the experience was pretty tasty and left me eager to return. I’ve heard rave reviews about their turkey leg, which is apparently “fire,” so that’s next on my list. Tease Southern Kitchen delivers authentic Southern flavors with room for refinement – a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its freshness and heart. If you’re in Emeryville craving soul food, it’s worth a stop.

The Garlic noodles with the prawns are AMAZING!!!! The frozen lemonade is really good. I got the tiger blood . I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but didn’t have time to stop and today I finally did and im so glad I did. I will definitely be coming back its fresh and has lots of flavor.

Great comfort southern food, the garlic noodles are delish, I had mine prepared with the fried chicken and my mother had the cajun fish. Generous portions, great speedy customer service, and awesome atmosphere. I also recommend you try the frozen lemonade to go with your meal, I got pomegranate and it hit the spot. Definitely will return when I’m back in town. 10/10 recommend!! Thanks for the good eats Tease!

I ordered the garlic noodles and the honey chicken for $26.18. The portions are very small. The Chicken was overcooked and dried out the garlic noodles are OK but for $26 the portions could be a lot bigger

Delicious Spicy Hot Chicken ask for the Spicy. Had the Salad and did not disappoint. Wonderful customer service, smiles and cheerfulness. A welcome edition to Emeryville. Also had an ice slushie machine. I enjoyed a Red Raspberry. Delicious.

Not usually a review guy but I took a shot with this place with only 2 reviews and felt compelled.
The chicken with garlic noodles is incredibly good. Such high quality chicken, super crispy and juicy, and the sauce on the noodles is plentiful and surprisingly rich for a simple (?) sauce. Can’t wait to try more!

I met up with some friends at the market place and stumbled on Tease Southern Kitchen. A new spot and I thought I would try it out. I got the garlic noodles, chicken wings with the Asian sticky sauce, and a frozen passion fruit lemonade. Everything was so good! The food was super tasty, portions were solid, and the drink hit the spot. Definitely coming back!

So happy to see this place open, it’s my new favorite place in public market. Very generous portions and delicious! We had the garlic pasta with fish and Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Cooked perfectly and fries were extra crispy. Will be back real soon 🙂

Chicken was a little dry and the wait time was very long, but the portion size was enough to put me into cardiac arrest if I attempted to eat it all. On California standards, great southern food. I would eat here again.
