We drove by a saw this place in North Valley Stream on Merrick Blvd
It happen to catch our attention,
it’s Spanish food from Central America plenty of different dishes.
can’t really see the server , to many people working in that area, limited seating but wouldn’t recommend to stay.
I order regular Pork chops with white rice and mash beans looks good (regular plate to go).
Then I order 2 Baleadas regular ( which was pretty much awful we ate Baleadas before and this one was semi raw and wet ) , and the Soup of Mondogo, or stripe soup with tortillas was very good surprisingly ☺️ ( you have to make sure you asked what they come with) also we didn’t buy any drinks, but do asked the prices, some of the price are Not in the menu,
So do make sure to ask, so that way you don’t get over charge or surprise.
The servers where semi friendly look like they were in a rush and the cashier definitely seems like she had some issues, but either way we wanted to try it out.
Over a I spent $36 I believe it was (Over Price) Not quite as I expected for basic food, we have bought the same food before with better quality and drinks included for almost that price in other places.
Either way it’s food and they do have some good selection.

I’ve been a patron of this deli on and off for 7 or 8 years. It has gone through many iterations through those years. Sometimes the food has been great; sometimes average, but the atmosphere has mostly been kind of dark and uninviting for the non-Latino. The prime clientele of La Familia are the working class Latinos from the many work and repair shops that surround the area. Those folks speak Spanish and thus the ladies that serve them speak Spanish as well, so if that makes you uncomfortable I don’t know what to say.
As for the atmosphere, I visited La Famila Deli last Friday after about a year of not visiting and the decor has changed. There is more space to move around and there is more lighting. It seems for inviting and spacious.
The food the morning of my visit was delicious. Especially, the baleadas! IMHO one of the best baleadas I have tasted on Long Island. I also had a taco de birria and it was juicy and fresh. The ladies there were warm and flirty (as are most great Spanish delis) as is the Hispanic way.
I will definitely go out of my way more often for some great and quick Hispanic food at La Familia Deli and Grill.

This place is a great spot for lunch- the portions are great for the price. My platter of pepper steak with rice and sweet plantains cost me about $10 and lasted me for lunch and dinner. Staff is super kind and the restaurant can get understandably very busy around lunch time. They have a ton of variety as well, i definitely plan on coming here regularly!

Hands down, La Familia Deli serves some delicious and authentic food! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. The service was impeccable; the fact that I can get my plate with the portions of my liking is amazing. I will be coming here more and more! Definitely a Must try for all ! 100% highly recommended!

It’s always a bad service here. Food isn’t great, but it’s alright and best spanish option around so basically no choice. I was holding off on a review because I always come in a hurry, but this one took the cake, never have I gotten Tacos birrias consome served in a little salsa cup. Took away the whole experience of Tacos birrias

Went today for soup. A lady leaving had to translate that I wanted soup. Ordered the chicken soup. Did not have small (pint) only large (quart) size. Soup was only water (did not have any vegetables) and chicken bones (back and neck) no meat and they charged me $17!!! (outrageous). No one charges that much for a quart of soup especially with nothing in it!!! I would have been better going to the ramen, Caribbean or Chinese place. If you are not Spanish, good luck. No prices or menu.

BE AWARE OF MOLD IN FOOD.
Worst place ever, be aware of your food. They let there food sit for days, NEVER fresh. My food had MOLD, I ordered just a simple bacon egg and cheese and the entire bread had mold. how did they not see that I don’t know! Nasty. I wish I took pictures but I was so upset that I forgot. And the prices are way to high for any little thing. They didn’t know what to say.

Unless you speak Spanish the customer service here is absolute garbage. Was holding off a review until now for the benefit of the doubt, but this has happened numerous times. Quality-wise the food is great whenever it does come out but they people working at this establishment are completely partial to certain customer base. I don’t suggest wasting your time unless you have time to waste.

Visited one year ago with my daughter. We Ordered yellow rice and stew chicken . The rice was disappointing. It was undercooked. Never went back again. Don’t people taste food when they are cooking it? Uncooked rice is an easy fix. Add water and lower heat, keep lid on pot and continue cooking
