A gem of a restaurant. I’ve struggled to find good Greek food in Winston Salem but man is this place GREAT!!! The lamb gyro was full of flavor, donuts are fresh as fresh gets, prices are affordable for sure! A steal based on the quality of everything. And the atmosphere… don’t get me started. I happened to be over near the Jonestown area and needed a quick bite to eat after getting my girlfriend some presents for her recent birthday. I wasn’t in the mood for anything, saw this place pop up on Google, and decided to try it out.
Ironically, I used to work at this restaurant when it was Carmine’s (Fine Italian Dining), but that was many, many moons ago; nonetheless, they have most certainly changed the inside, as you can see. Before, it was a dark, poorly lit Italian place, and now it is bright and airy, with flowers hanging from the ceiling.
There was a bit of a misunderstanding at the register: I got a salad with no lettuce, which I did order but did not realize was a lettuce-free salad. That said, the dressing on the veggie salad I got was delicious, and so were the bits of feta on top. There was also a miscommunication: fries came on my sandwich, which I do not understand how they got there…
All this aside, it was a good dining experience, and the food was good, even if it was a little wrong.
If you decide to go, get the Greek doughnuts. I got the traditional with cinnamon, sugar, and honey. They were super tasty and I really enjoyed that sweet treat!

Amazing!!!! I got a platter for the garden gyro with chicken, everything was delicious. The veggies were super fresh and the fries were the BEST i’ve ever had. Food came out quick, and I absolutely loved the decor inside!

Super fast service. The gyro was amazing, the green bean salad was yummy, and those DONUTS, oh my GOD. Bouncy, chewy, delightful. I don’t have a picture of them because I devoured them in mere moments.
More people need to visit this restaurant! It’s amazing!

EDIT EDIT: Whoever served us gave us extra donuts. I didn’t count them initially, but when my kids came home from school and we divided them out, we had an extra serving each. Thank you guys so much. <3

I’ll do a fuller review when I have a full meal here, but for the time being, go for the loukoumades! They are amazing. Available in orders ranging from 6 to 48, they come with your choice of glaze. My wife and I split a six-pack with the traditional Greek syrup and found them dangerously addictive. The mini-donuts were served hot, fresh, and crisped to a golden brown. They were sweet without being cloying and made for a perfect pre-dinner snack. I have no idea how the rest of Kalamaki’s food stacks up, but if it is anywhere near as good as the loukoumades, there’s reason to be hopeful.

Beautiful place and vibe. You really feel like you are in Greece inside this place. There are so many details on decoration that you can lost some time just admiring. Super cozy environment and service.
The food is also surprisingly good: We order two platters that came with a salad or rice, tzatziki sauce, pita and a drink. I ordered the kebab and my husband the steak and lamb (so good).
My only point is the plastic forks. I know that the concept is like a fast food but if you are eating in the restaurant they should give real forks to have a better experience specially when you are eating meat.
Despite that we love the experience, for sure we will be back to eat other plates.

As a former line cook at an family authentic Lebanese restaurant, I always am looking for Greek, Lebanese & Mediterranean food spots near me. We found this spot through my family and we decided to go. Sandwiches are decently priced at about 9.00, but the Combos come out to 14.00 for a side and a drink. A little high, but if the food is worth it, that price isn’t bad. The food is honestly, not bad. I enjoy tzatziki and that is my first test whether a place is good or not. The tzatziki, is not bad. It’s on par with most places but not something I would actively go only here for. I ended up getting the Traditional Gyro with Steak & Lamb. They put French fries inside the sandwich, with tzatziki, and the meat(it comes with tomatoes & onions as well). The food was not bad overall. I enjoyed my meal and it was a nice dainty place. I would recommend coming here. Nothing blew me away and would get me coming back as a regular, but if I was in the area and looking for food, this would definitely be my choice. Thanks for a good meal.

Just got my food and got back t my room. I got the Greek salad and a traditional Gyro. The salad was awesome but the gyro had a burnt taste and was not thin sliced like a ,I don’t want to say real gyro , but TRADITIONAL gyro it tasted like steak and not lamb like I ordered. Now that I look at it there’s no lamb in here AT ALL I NEED MY MONEY BACK.

Love their kebabs when chicken is juicy vs dry ( at times). Tried the lamb meat version and tasted beautifully and was juicy. Only thing I wished was that they dont start to make the salad into shreds. The lettuce is starting to imitate shreds vs pieces. It is still my go to in the area since restaurant is clean, music is of Greek and the quality is very good.
