Really liked this place. Only had shrimp tacos, but they were excellent. Went upstairs for open, breezy dining in the heat of the day. Very comfy. The two girls bartending were really nice, friendly, helpful and all ’round good folks. This is what we’ve come to expect in OBX. Decent value and great sauce for the tacos. The mango, watermelon Pico was also really good considering I don’t usually like mango.

The staff is very friendly. It’s a great beach atmosphere. The chicken is atrocious, the beef was stellar! Stay away from the chicken unless you’re into sweet food! The queso is nacho cheese, not exactly authentic Mexican food.

I cannot rave enough about this place. Found them randomly last year while waiting for our house to be ready. It was raining and we stopped by to kill some time and get some drinks while sheltering from the rain. They were so accommodating to our large party, and served amazing drinks and even better food! We were so excited to come back for year 2, saw they have birria ramen on the menu, and had to try it. IT’S SO GOOD! If you know anything about birria tacos, this is the perfect combo of those flavors with added ramen noodles. I got two cups while here, and ordered some to go! Highly, highly recommend stopping here while in Corolla!

The salty rim is exactly what you’d want on a hot summer day. The watermelon jalapeño marg and orange crushes are so refreshing. Not to mention the delicious Mozambique shrimp and cod fish tacos. This is a MUST if you’re visiting the OBX!

Such a fun little place off of the beach in Corolla Light. Tacos are delicious and drinks were amazing. Friendly staff. Definitely a must go to on your vacation in Corolla.

So I’m a celiac girlie and was unsure if the Salty Rim could accommodate. Hubby called ahead and they had corn tortillas so I knew I could reasonably get a taco if all else failed.
The owner took our order and I explained my celiac and what I could and could not have. We settled on the nachos without the nacho cheese, regular cheese, chicken, guac, beans, and salsa with pico while the hubby had the birria ramen.
When they dropped off our order she let me know they changed the fry oil for the chips to be sure it was really really safe for me. FYI they apparently have three separate fryers and one dedicated to chips they make in house. Super stellar service!!
Everything was amazing! Super fresh and I did not have any problems (which I would have known about 15 minutes into our meal). I was incredibly hungry and had been surfing all day and I STILL couldn’t finish the huge batch of nachos. The drinks were awesome and the breeze from the beach (just a very short walk) was amazing.
Ok so the chicken. So tender! It’s marinaded in pineapple so if you don’t like sweet chicken get the birria or beef. It really set off the nachos!
10/10 experience, food, and staff. Will be back when they open in the spring!!

The salted rim is right outside of where we stayed so walking there was easy. They had live music and it was a great place to hangout and get a beer. Everyone was nice and you felt like you were at your favorite local bar. I did not get food but from what I saw and people’s reactions to eating their meals I’d say it’s very good! Definitely will be back soon.

Perfect beach spot. Good drinks, fast service and food. You can walk to the beach through the nearest access. Clean restrooms. Just a great find. This place is new, but will become a great repeat spot for locals too. The burrito bowl was outstanding. The beer specials were excellent!
