My son Begged me to eat dinner here, so we pulled up into a space right in front of the restaurant. We had eaten here previously, and it was good, though expensive. We walked into the restaurant as 3 teens were walking out, and we were the only customers there. The lighting is terrible which makes it super-dark inside. I don’t know if that’s on purpose, but I wasn’t a fan. Since we were the only ones there, we were able to pick our ingredients for our respective poke bowls, and we weren’t rushed, which was nice (I had the tofu with mixed rice & spring mix with edamame, spring onion, fresh jalapeños, shredded coconut, and wasabi mayo; my son had the poke bowl with teriyaki chicken & tofu with shredded carrots & cucumber, mango & avocado slices). I devoured mine, but my son brought a small portion of his bowl home, since he got full. As far as drinks are concerned, I wasn’t impressed: they only had Pepsi products and a small fridge with Oriental-branded drinks. My son got Manzanita, which he loved, and I got unsweetened Lipton iced tea. I was surprised that our respective meals were over $35 for the 2 of us, but we enjoyed our food. Hopefully, this place doesn’t go out of business, with the state of the economy, because we enjoy it.

I came here on 2/17 and I got terrible food poisoning from the Fistbump burrito . The tuna made me very sick and it tasted very funny to begin with . It had a very strong metallic flavor .Won’t be returning:(

Let me start by saying I could tell everyone was pretty new here, so the rating isn’t as low as I would have probably rated if they had been around for long time. I will definitely try again next time I’m in town to give it another chance and update the review. Here is why Sushi Freak only gets three stars for now…

Pros: Cute little sushi eatery that is aesthetically pleasing. It is pretty roomy, even for being a little crowded when we were there. The staff, albeit seemed pretty new, were very friendly and seemed to be really trying. My husband enjoyed his roll, he got the New Mexican Roll.

Cons: I got the Crunch Roll (a typical roll at most sushi restaurants). I was not impressed for a couple reasons, the first being that the seaweed was tuff, which is typically a sign of it not being as fresh as it should be. Secondly the panko crunch had an odd flavor, it seemed either old or maybe left out too long? The egg rolls tasted like any frozen egg roll and wasn’t bad, just wasn’t something I would order again. As shown in the photo, the ginger was scarce, literally two small pieces were put on my tray. Lastly, the tray itself had a film on it, like it was washed but then dried with a dirty towel, and since there were a lot of people in line, I believe they were rushing so the plating was quite messy.

I reiterate, I believe a lot of this is due to new employees learning, especially could tell this in the cashier who was having some issues and being trained. I would absolutely come back to give a second chance once a bit of the newness wears off.

Counter service. Helpful and friendly staff. Big tables but only about nine of them. Seafood is always fresh. Fried Calamari had a bit too much batter…tempura? Unique rolls and burritos all deserve a try.

Please, please, please update your ‘holiday’ hours on Google.
I drove 10 miles out of my way, in a semi truck, to squeeze into a tiny parking lot, so I could get some good quality food. All to find out it closed at 8:00 but Google says 9:00…
