Such a sweet, inviting, and wonderful place! The decor was adorable, the food was AMAZING and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Will definitely be going back to try the brunch menu out and will absolutely be going back for dinner! We loved that a good portion of the food was locally sourced too! Price point was fantastic(I had two specialty drinks and we split a dessert that tacked on a little extra to the bill, but they were delicious and completely worth it) and we left full and happy☺️

We visited Horsch Radish, a German restaurant, on a Wed and we were treated like we were the only guests there. The server was incredibly attentive and made the experience feel special.
The Brat Platter came with three delicious sausages—cheddar knacker, Hungarian brat, and weisswurst—served with 2 kinds of sauerkraut, the original had a unique fennel flavoring and the red cabbage was tender and had a subtle sweet flavor.
The Rahmschnitzel, breaded pork cutlets with mushroom gravy, was cooked to perfection and came with two sides. It was like heaven.
We ended with a rich cheesecake, and the server was kind enough to split the toppings so we each got what we liked.
Highly recommend! Try going on a Wed or Thurs when it’s quieter. If you’re going on Fri – Sun, be sure to make a reservation!

This was a surprising find for us in a small town in Illinois. The menu is simple but the food is prepared to perfection. This is the best German food I’ve have outside of Germany. The brat was delicious washed down with a Weiss bier, my son ordered the radish melt and both were delicious.

Great place for German food! Went there during lunch for our anniversary. Has a nice European charm with a cozy homely atmosphere.
Waiter informed us they’re in the process of combining the menus, so we got a mix: frog legs, lunch combo (BLT & goulash soup of the day), schnitzel, and complimentary bread.
You can tell they put work into keeping things local and comfortingly homemade- The bread was dense and crumby but great for dipping the soup, the frog legs needed a teeny bit of salt but flavorful, the BLT was fresh and crunchy and with local sourced bacon, and the schnitzel was comforting with good flavour.
The desserts were also all homemade and looked so good!
Lastly, was also very reasonably (maybe criminally?) priced! Definitely recommended as a great lunch and dinner spot and for some homemade German food. Will be back 🙂

We stopped here for dinner on the way back from Central Illinois. My family loves this place and it was our first time actually having dinner since it changed to Horsch Radish. Food was pretty solid and of good value.
We had the schnitzel with veggies, and potato pancakes, Rahm’s schnitzel, with spaetzle, and sauerkraut. I would not recommend the potato pancakes, but the spaetzle and sauerkraut were tasty. Only downside was service was a little slow. Only one person working as bartender/server and one person delivering food.

Had dinner there last night. Service was extremely slow even though the place had maybe 5 customers in it when we arrived. The waitress couldn’t answer simple question about the beers available. I ordered a schnitzle which was flavorless, had to add a lot of salt. The red cabbage was very coarsely chopped and the spatzle was dried out and had very little flavor. I see other reviewers had good experiences so maybe Friday night is not the best night to go. This is a completely different restaurant from the days of the old Bayern Stube. Such a shame that it has gone so far downhill.

The new turnover of the previous German restaurant is really a gem. The food is at its good quality and dessert is great. Reservation is required for now. I’m glad that people from Champaign can finally enjoy some German food around the area.

A German restaurant focused on local sourcing, similar to my experiences in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, and Heidelberg. Nice selection of schnitzels. Sprinkling Gorgonzola on the Jägersauce (Schnitzel Dietrich) and the horseradish sauce alongside the mustard sauce (Munich Schnitzel) are excellent touches. A must try place for German food, bier, and atmosphere.

Made a reservation for New Years Eve and really enjoyed our evening. Had a singer in the bar, have added some basic salads and simplified the menu compared to the previous Bayern Stube. You pick from 6-8 entrees and all come with any two sides… still some of the German favorites but added a few staples too and a vegetable of the day which was garlic buttered broccoli tonight. We LOVE the Hungarian goulash and lucky for us it was the soup of the day. They had another of our favorites, apple streusel, on the dessert tray…. served warm, not too sweet and bursting with cinnamon. We’ll be back!
