We heard that this place holds Florida’s “largest chicken sandwich.” That part is surely TRUE! But, is it the tastiest? We ordered the viral Hot Katsu Butter Chicken Sandwich ($15) and a side of krinkle fries ($4). Don’t waste your time with the cooked, frozen fries. It is like someone casting me in a supportive role for Jack Nicholson or Denzel Washington. The star is the sandwich! So, why just 4 stars? The gentlemen/cook behind the counter who was helpful and respectfully addressed me as sir was worth 5 stars. The other 5, supportive restaurants sharing the same space offered more choices for those who aren’t there to try this behemoth sandwich. That atmosphere was worth another 5 stars. The reason for the 4 stars is because I gave the sandwich a 4.5 rating but my GF gave it a 3.5. Yes…it is big enough to share and fill up both ppl! She did admit the viral hype made it out to be the “great white-meat hope!” For her, it wasn’t. However, I felt the balance of spice, massive crunch into the juicy & fresh chicken, pillowy-yet toasted-brioche bun, plus the creamy macaroni salad on top, made this an all the boxes checked sandwich experience. Funny because I typically NEVER eat macaroni salad! Although a drier Mac salad, it added a creamy element to every crackling bite. For me, it was definitely worth the off the interstate detour to experience this beast of a sandwich. Btw, don’t look for any sign saying Sweet & Salty from the street. It is in a food hall called Hallsfeed. God bless!!

I have been following sweet and salty since they had a trailer attach to a truck and Will managing it with his wife, about 5 years now.
Today on their halls on 5th location was disappointing. Image attached is not the Kalua pork Sando that I’m use to. Please retrain staff!
This I just pork topped with BBQ sauce

Came to the food hall and got a few things from a few places. This was the place I was most interested in. Best looking menu.
Katsu Chicken Regular Plate Lunch (Tender Japanese panko fried chicken with tonkatsu sauce. Boneless/dark meat). One of the best katsus I’ve had in Orlando. Amazingly crispy. And it was big, too. A healthy portion for a food hall restaurant. Great flavor, and a nice Japanese BBQ sauce on top.
Sides of Rice, Mac Salad, and Hawaiian Rolls. Standard, all of it. Soft white rice, mac salad with a nice little bite and was juuust sweet enough, and a Hawaiian roll that I would eat a dozen more of. So good.
We also got a Regular Musubi (Grilled spam, over rice, wrapped in nori (seaweed) aka Hawaiian powerbar). These things are amazing. A nice pan fried piece of sweet, salty Spam, a pop of salt from the nori, and that awesome rice again. Big fan. I could also eat a dozen of these.
Overall, I was very happy with my meal here. The one in Sanford is pretty good, too. I’d come back.

I have ate here a handful of times. The service has never been stellar, but food has been good. That was, until my recent visit. The spam masubi was atrocious, and had maybe a spoonful of rice in it. On top of that, the masubi was tiny, and unbearably tough. Very disappointing.

We just got home, My husband and I took our youngest son to Sweet & Salty in Apopka (15 E 5th St.) for the first time, and we were so glad we did! My son tried the spicy chicken sandwich, which was juicy and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the burger with the egg on top, and I had the pork sandwich—everything was exceptional.
What truly made the experience outstanding, however, were the two gentlemen who were both cooking and serving. Their attitude and customer service were second to none. They welcomed us warmly, answered all of our questions, and made our first visit even better than the delicious food itself.
We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

We have been here a few times now and have not been disappointed! We highly recommend trying this place out! We always get the katsu and comes out full of flavor and so crispy! We all love the sauce that comes on top too. Definitely give them a try!

I’ve been to this place a few times for the chicken katsu, and it’s really good — absolutely delicious. 5 stars for that. However, the other menu items are disappointing. The spam musubi tasted like burnt soy sauce.
I tried the kalbi beef yesterday — the marinade was nice, but the meat was tough and overcooked. The loco moco patties were downright bad; they were just ground beef loaded with way too much salt.
I waited 35 minutes for what turned out to be inedible kalbi beef and loco moco.
Honestly, just stick to the chicken — you’ll be satisfied. People who haven’t had authentic Hawaiian or Asian food might settle for this, but otherwise, it’s a miss.

I didn’t know the food hall had separate hours from the bar. I unknowingly showed up just as he was closing up and he just smiled and said “I got you, what would you like.” Truly genuine customer service, outstanding food and presentation. If you haven’t been, definitely go and check it out.

I’ve now eaten here twice and both times were amazing. Patience is key as there is only one person making plates but I promise it’s worth the wait. I’ve had the spicy Katsu Chicken sandwich, the masubi, and today I had the Katsu chicken lunch plate. Hands down the best food I’ve ever eaten. The Mac salad is very good and the sauce they put on the Katsu is very tasty. My son ordered the grilled chicken plate today and he loved it as well. Definitely did not disappoint and we will be back!!

This review is for the location in what is now the Hall’s Food Hall (formerly it was a feed store) with several food vendors a nice bar with sit down eating area (indoor & outdoor). The food was sooooooooo good I forgot to take a photo! I ordered the Spicy Katsu Chicken platter & the gentleman that was cooking was kind enough to grant my request of having coleslaw as my only side although it was not an option on the screen ordering. The chicken was RIDICULOUS! So much so that I shared with the sweetest bartender at the food hall because she hadn’t tasted it yet…..I should’ve asked her name but the receipt said Alexis. We were both oohhing & ahhing at how juicy & flavorful it was. The heat level on it was VERY mild for those used to spice. I WILL RETURN!
