First-time visit to Hunan Restaurant in Princeton.
Positives first: The space is clean, well-maintained, and nicely decorated—I especially liked the wall of international currencies and even offered to bring a Pakistani bill next time. The staff was friendly, and I got my order quickly. Great service overall.
I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken, which was marked as spicy. Under $10 for a meal in Princeton is a rare find, so definitely a budget-friendly option. That said, I probably should’ve waited before eating—maybe the dish would’ve settled better. It was hot (temperature-wise), but not really spicy, despite visible chili flakes. The chicken was very crispy—perhaps over-fried—and the sauce tasted more like a sweet chili jam, which isn’t my thing. I was hoping for something a bit more savory or balanced. I finished the meal because I was hungry, but I didn’t really enjoy it.
That said, it might just have been the wrong order for my taste. I’d consider giving it another shot and exploring other dishes.
Tips:
1) Cash only
2) Takeout only (the dine-in area is reserved for larger groups)

Ordered take outs a few times. Food is so delicious. Price is reasonable! Best chinese takeout in the area. Mrs. Pang is a great lady. Great contributor to the community.

Great place to host events with a big group of people in their dining room. $25 cash per person for a lot of good food and drinks. The owner is extremely accommodating and polite every time we come here. I can’t speak to the quality of the take out/regular menu, but the fried rice, general tsos chicken, and lo mein is great for big parties.

Today was my first time trying this restaurant, and I found it to be very nice and clean. The lady at the front desk was really polite. The vegetable lo mein had a great taste; however, I was very disappointed with the shrimp and broccoli. The shrimp looked quite old and had many black spots. I will try this restaurant once again, and hope for a better outcome.

The Szechaun Sautéed Beef and rice was delicious and not too spicy. This place is well priced for dinner and being near a university

To start off, We ordered ahead over the phone and came in to pick it up where we were then told that it was cash only so we had to get money from the ATM and pay an outrageous withdraw fee. That should’ve been our first sign to leave. We picked up our single order of beef fried rice and got home and were completely disgusted. The rice was absolutely disgusting we threw the whole box away and the “beef” looked and smelled like a mystery meat. Definitely will never come back here again.

Hunan is fine. People need to stop whining how this place is cash only, be and adult and carry cash on you. Credit card companies suck.
